The Regional Director of Education in Sambalpur, India, has called for the Women's College in Bargarh to be renamed the Parbati Giri Women's College after the late freedom fighter and social worker. Giri's tireless efforts to improve living conditions and fight against the British during the Quit India movement were celebrated by the Sambalpur Director who stated that naming the college after her would inspire and encourage students and faculty alike.
