Why SEL Alone Isn’t Enough

There is no one silver bullet when it comes to measuring and managing employee engagement. In fact, many employers believe that an employee engagement program that incorporates social, emotional, and behavioral (SEL) factors is the best way to achieve success. However, while SEL alone is an important part of any engagement program, it is not enough.

Employees need to feel appreciated, engaged, and motivated in order to be productive and happy in their jobs. Unfortunately, many employers focus exclusively on SEL when it comes to employee engagement, believing that it is the only way to create a positive work environment. However, this is not always the case.

Many employers believe that employees need to be given recognition and rewards for their efforts. In addition, employers should provide opportunities for employees to develop their skills and grow their careers. Finally, employers should create a positive culture in which employees feel appreciated and valued.

When employers focus on all three aspects of employee engagement–recognition, development, and culture–employees are more likely to be satisfied with their jobs and to be productive and motivated. This is why employers should consider all three factors when designing an engagement program.

Employers should also consider how engagement can be measured. There is no one perfect way to measure employee engagement, but surveys and interviews are two common methods. By measuring employee engagement, employers can ensure that their engagement program is effective and that employees are happy in their jobs.
