The National Exit Test (NExT) is a postgraduate medical exam designed to serve as a qualifying exam for final year MBBS students and a licentiate exam enabling Indian medical professionals to practice modern medicine. The NExT aims at standardizing and streamlining the evaluation process for Indian postgraduate medical professionals. The eligibility criteria for the exam include MBBS students from all Indian medical colleges approved by the National Medical Commission, foreign medical graduates, and other medical degree holders. The NExT comprises two separate examinations- theoretical and practical- consisting of six and seven papers respectively. AIIMS is expected to conduct the NExT from 2024.
