Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated the Carbon Fiber and Prepregs Center at the National Aerospace Laboratory in Bengaluru . He took information about innovations in aviation technology at the laboratory. He also witnessed the flight of indigenous trainer aircraft Hansa NG and multi-purpose aircraft Saras designed and developed by this laboratory . Addressing the scientific community, the Vice President said that India is taking important steps in Amrit Kaal to realize the dream of a developed nation on completion of 100 years of independence in 2047. He said that the country’s achievements in the space sector have been recognized worldwide. The Vice President said that the light combat aircraft Tejas is a symbol of self-reliant India.

2 Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences will organize ‘Pragati-2024’ program​

Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) is hosting the event “ Pragati-2024 in Ayurvedic Science and Technology Innovation ” on May 28, 2024 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi . CCRAS is an autonomous body under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. This interactive meeting focuses on exploring research opportunities and promoting collaboration between CCRAS and the Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Industry. The event will be inaugurated by Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH.

3 First hydrogen bus handed over to Indian Army under “Olive Green – Going Green”​

In a significant move towards promoting eco-friendly transportation, Indian Oil has delivered state-of-the-art hydrogen-powered buses to the Indian Army . The agreement was signed at an event held at the National War Memorial, India Gate in the presence of Army Chief General Manoj Pandey and Indian Oil Chairman SM Vaidya . The initiative aims to promote hydrogen and battery-based technology in heavy vehicles. Hydrogen fuel cell technology provides a clean and efficient alternative to electrical energy by converting hydrogen gas into electricity through an electro-chemical process. The process leaves water vapor as the only emitted substance and thus ensures zero emissions. The hydrogen fuel cell bus has a seating capacity of 37 passengers. It offers an impressive mileage of 250-300 km on a full 30 kg onboard tank of hydrogen fuel.

4 Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute unveils Electric Tiller​

Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, Director General , Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Secretary, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) unveiled the Electric Tiller of Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMRI) in Durgapur, West Bengal on 25 May 2024. Developed with innovative technology of CSIR-CMERI, this electric tiller is designed to meet the requirements of small to marginal farmers who constitute more than 80 percent of the farming community of the country. Farmers, who usually have less than 2 hectares of land, can use this electric tiller for various agricultural operations, thereby greatly reducing the operational cost. Moreover, this advancement also underlines India’s commitment to achieve net-zero emissions and promote eco-friendly agricultural practices.

5 SAMEER exchanged MoU on Technology Transfer of MRI and Linear Accelerator with Industry in the presence of Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology​

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) through Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering and Research (SAMEER), Mumbai as the implementing agency has led the development of two critical healthcare technologies, namely 1.5 Tesla MRI Scanner and 6 MeV Linear Accelerator (MRI) in collaboration with Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Trivandrum and Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) and Dayananda Sagar Institute (DSI), Kolkata. MRI scanner is a non-invasive medical imaging test used to visualize soft tissues, while linear accelerator (linac) is used for cancer treatment using high-energy X-rays or electrons. Both the projects have received financial support from Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to move India towards reducing imports.

6 PESB recommends Shri Ajay Kumar Sharma as Director (Personnel), SJVN​

The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Shri Ajay Kumar Sharma for the post of Director (Personnel) in SJVN, a leading Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Power . He was selected after a complex process of interviews held on May 24, 2024, where he emerged as the top candidate among eleven contenders. Shri Sharma is currently working as General Manager in the Corporate Human Resources Department of SJVN.

7 RBI imposes fine of ₹3.1 lakh on Hero FinCorp​

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a fine of lakhs on Hero Group ‘s non-banking financial company Hero Fincorp . RBI has imposed a total fine of Rs 3.10 lakh on this NBFC . RBI has imposed this penalty on the company for not following some rules related to the Fair Practice Code. The Reserve Bank said in this regard that action has been taken against the company for regulatory reasons. This fine will not affect the customers in any way.
