2 Nicaragua becomes first Spanish-speaking country to recognize Indian pharma standards
Nicaragua has become the first Spanish-speaking country in the world to recognize the Indian Pharmacopoeia . India and Nicaragua have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Pharmacopoeia on cooperation in the field of regulation of medicines. The agreement was signed by India’s Ambassador to Nicaragua Sumit Seth and Nicaragua’s Health Minister Martha Reis. The Indian Embassy in Nicaragua has said that countries should have either their own pharmacopoeia or the pharmacopoeia of another country to refer to the standards of drugs manufactured and consumed in that country. Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission is an autonomous body under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, which has been created to set standards of drugs in the country.

In 1979 the governments of Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir signed an agreement to build the Ranjit Sagar Dam and the downstream Shahpur Kandi Barrage to stop Pakistan’s waters.
