Utkal University, one of the premier universities in India, has fallen from A+ to A grade in the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) scores. The university scored 3.16 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) to secure grade A while it secured A+ grade with 3.53 CGPA in 2016. The university authorities haven’t disclosed the reason behind the drop, but the Higher Education Department is planning to file an appeal over the assessment before the council and conduct internal reviews. The NAAC assesses the universities based on seven parameters: curriculum, teaching, research, infrastructure, student support, governance, and best practices.
