Based on the UrFU Engineering Center for Digital Engineering Technologies, a Student Design Office has been opened. The aim is to attract future specialists to innovative industrial projects, to prepare students for future professional activities, to immerse them in engineering work, and to help them choose a professional path. In turn, the university is interested in implementing a strategy of practical approach to engineering education.

The advantages of participating in this project are gaining experience in an advanced team guided by modern principles of project management, experience working with specialized software and digital design tools, as well as the possibility of employment both in UrFU and in high-tech partner companies with a decent salary level. In addition, there is a chance to participate in paid internships and the opportunity to acquire additional skills needed for work.

“Participation in the Student Design Office is an opportunity for young specialists to put their engineering knowledge into practice as soon as possible and to see the results of their work. The project makes it possible to develop necessary products for the industry, and long-term partnerships of the Engineering Center will help to realize their launch into series production. We are doing everything to ensure that the young people who have joined the office can realize themselves in innovative areas of production,” said Maxim Sapogov, Director of the UrFU Engineering Center for Digital Engineering Technologies.

Full-time university students of all majors and educational backgrounds who pass the competitive selection process are welcome to participate in the Student Design Office project. Applications will be accepted until June 1.

The development of a series of subcompact engines will be the pilot project. Within the framework of the project young engineers will have to develop a series of four-cylinder engines for the transport industry. The project will involve the implementation of a complete product development cycle, from the initial idea through to the full-scale testing of the prototypes.

Students will be chosen on a competitive basis and evaluated by staff of the UrFU Engineering Center for Digital Engineering Technologies. The duration of the participation in the project will be considered on an individual basis (from one to three semesters).
