University of Mumbai reschedules CDOE Exams besides schools, colleges have been closed due to heavy rains

Due to heavy rains in Maharashtra, the University of Mumbai has rescheduled the examinations for the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE). Originally set for July 8, 2024, the exams will now be held on July 13, 2024 from 11 am to 2 pm.

The official notification from the University of Mumbai mentions that all CDOE (formerly IDOL) exams scheduled for July 8, 2024, have been postponed to July 13, 2024, from 11 am to 2 pm due to heavy rains. The time and venue remain unchanged as per the MU admit card.

Maharashtra’s School Education Minister, Deepak Kesarkar, has announced a holiday for all schools and colleges in the Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri districts due to heavy rains. Additionally, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared a holiday for the second session of schools on July 8, 2024 following the morning session, which was already canceled.

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Mumbai recorded over 300 mm of rainfall in various locations within six hours, from 1 am to 7 am on July 8, 2024. As a result, some trains were canceled, as reported by Central Railways.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that all schools from pre-primary to Class 12 will remain closed today. The notification from the CM’s office clarified that this order applies only to schools and other government offices, while all other activities will proceed as usual. Additionally, Sawant mentioned that the 80 people stranded at the waterfall have been successfully rescued by emergency services.

He announced that the Director of Education has been instructed to issue a circular declaring a holiday on Monday due to a red alert. As a result, all schools in Goa, from pre-primary to Class 12, will remain closed on July 8, 2024.
