The transfer of Justice Annireddy Abhishek Reddy from the Telangana High Court to the Patna High Court has been notified by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice on Thursday.

The Supreme Court Collegium on November 16, 2022 recommended the transfer of Justice Reddy.

Notably, on the next day, the Telangana High Court Advocates’ Association (THCAA) resolved to abstain from work to protest against the proposal to transfer Justice Reddy.

Subsequently, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud agreed to meet a delegation representing the THCAA. After the meeting, the THCAA decided to end its strike and resume work as the CJI assured them that their representation against Justice Reddy’s transfer will be examined.

Justice Reddy was born on November 7, 1967. He enrolled as an advocate in July 1990 and was elevated to the bench on August 26, 2019.

As on April 1, 2023, the Patna High Court is working with 33 judges against a sanctioned strength of 53, a vacancy position of 20.
