While presenting the interim budget on February 1, 2024, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had stated that, “In the full budget in July, our Government will present a detailed roadmap for our pursuit of ‘Viksit Bharat’.” If India does aim to become a developed country by 2047 as per Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat, the Union Budget 2024 which will be presented on July 23 must prioritise the education of children, who are the future of the country. Read on to find out what experts from the education sector shared with us at Brainfeed about their expectations from the Union Budget 2024.

“We are pleased that the government continues to recognize the imperative need for substantial support in addressing the skills gap and social inequities, ensuring students transition smoothly into high-demand job roles. The government’s decision to increase the budgetary allocation of Rs 2 lakh crore towards skilling, along with other initiatives, will greatly improve the educational infrastructure of the country. This funding will help the educators to upskill in their respective fields encouraging professional development and job creation. Additionally, providing financial support for loans up to Rs 10 lakh for higher education in domestic institutions is a commendable move. In all, we believe this year’s budgetary measures will generate ample opportunities, drive growth, and create a positive trajectory for the entire Indian education ecosystem.”
