Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has announced ‘ Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana ‘. Under this scheme, 1 crore families of the country will get solar energy on the roof of their house. In a social media post, Mr Modi said that the people of the country should have solar systems on their rooftops. He said that this will not only reduce the electricity bill of the poor and middle class, but will also make India self-reliant in the energy sector.

India-Kyrgyzstan ‘s 11th joint special forces exercise Khanjar has started at Special Forces Training School, Bakloh , Himachal Pradesh . This exercise will run from 22 January to 3 February 2024 . The exercise is an annual event held alternately in both the countries. The Indian Army contingent of 20 personnel is being represented by soldiers of the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) and the Kyrgyzstan contingent of 20 personnel is being represented by the Scorpion Brigade. The objective of this exercise is to exchange experiences and best practices in counter-terrorism and special forces operations in the built up areas and mountainous areas under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter .

A 25-personnel Indian Army contingent has reached Egypt to participate in the second edition of the India-Egypt joint special forces exercise ‘ Cyclone ‘ . The exercise will be conducted from 22 January to 1 February 2024 at Anshas, Egypt . The first edition of the exercise was conducted in India last year. In this exercise, the Indian contingent is being represented by soldiers of the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) and the Egyptian contingent of 25 personnel is being represented by the Egyptian Commando Squadron and the Egyptian Airborne Platoon. The objective of the exercise is to familiarize both sides with each other’s operating procedures in the backdrop of special operations in desert/semi-desert areas under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations.
