ALIGARH : The Malayalam and Tamil Section, Department of Modern Indian Languages, Aligarh Muslim University, organized a two-day national level seminar on “Current Trends in Comparative Literature: Language, Culture and Identity” in hybrid mode.

Addressing the inaugural session, Prof T.N. Satheesan, Chairman, Department of Modern Indian Languages highlighted the importance of comparative study of literatures and the relevance of modern Indian languages in comparative study.

Later he informed that four offline sessions and five parallel online sessions were held during the seminar and faculty members and research scholars from AMU, JNU, DU, and various universities and colleges from Kerala and Tamil Nadu presented more 59 papers.

Delivering the valedictory speech, Prof. Arif Nazir, Dean, Faculty of Arts, said that comparative literature is inevitable in India and this department is the best place to carry out research in comparative literature. He said that former professors this department have written have contributed much to the Indian literature.

Dr. R. Tamiselvan and Rafsal Babu CV conducted the seminar, while Prof. A. Nujum extended a vote of thanks.
