8 IISc designs a hydrogel to remove microplastics from water
Scientists at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) have created a sustainable hydrogel to tackle the problem of plastic pollution . Microplastics are tiny plastic particles less than 5 millimeters in size and are distributed all over the planet, from oceans to mountains. These tiny particles can enter our body through the water we drink, posing a serious threat to our health. Although scientists have attempted to eliminate microplastics through filtering membranes, the membranes become clogged with particles, making them no longer sustainable.
