In a remarkable achievement, 18-year-old Chand Mallik from Tripura has emerged as a top scorer, securing the highest marks in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Tests (NEET)-UG exam, alongside 67 other All India Rank 1 holders. This historic feat has brought immense pride to the state as Mallik becomes the first student from Tripura to ace the national medical entrance exam.

A student of Shishu Bihar Higher Secondary School in Agartala, Mallik attained an impressive 99.99 percentile. According to Mallik, he initially couldn’t believe the results and was pleasantly surprised to have scored the topmost marks. He aspires to pursue a career in medicine by studying MBBS at a prestigious institution such as AIIMS.

Mallik’s success story is underlined by his disciplined approach to preparation. Contrary to the trend of attending coaching centres, he relied on tutelage from two private tutors, emphasizing the significance of self-study. According to Mallik, most students are yet to decide about their future after Class 10. His two teachers laid the foundation for him and the rest was his self-study. Mallik maintained a rigorous study routine, dedicating a minimum of seven hours per day, highlighting the importance of self-study for academic attainment. His determination to pursue a career in the medical field is inspired by his father, Dr. Chandan Mallik, who currently serves as a medical officer at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Agartala. Mallik also takes part in recreational activities and enjoys cricket and movies during leisure hours. According to Mallik, isolation for concentration, and maintaining composure during examination days are key factors in achieving success. His remarkable journey stands as a testament to the potential yielded through diligent efforts and unwavering determination.
