Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has laid the foundation stone for the Central Tribal University's permanent campus in Vizianagaram. He stated that the university would bring about a positive change in the lives of Adivasis and enable them to compete globally. The tribal university, along with two medical colleges and a tribal engineering college, is part of the development in the tribal area.
