The number of Indians taking the TOEFL exam for secondary education and certifications abroad has increased, while those taking the test for immigration purposes has decreased, according to Educational Testing Service (ETS). The percentage of Indian test takers for secondary education abroad has risen from 5.83% in 2021 to 7.77% in 2022, while those taking the test for employment or immigration has declined from 8.19% to 7.22%. The increase in Indian students going abroad for education is attributed to both macroeconomic factors and the support of foreign countries like Australia, Canada, and the UK.
