The Centre of Excellence in Teacher Education (CETE) at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) released a report "Right Teacher for Every Child: State of Teachers, Teaching, and Teacher Education Report 2023." The report sheds light on the availability and deployment of teachers, drawing from research conducted in eight states across India. The findings indicate that 35 to 41 percent of mathematics teachers in both government and private schools lack a background in mathematics at the undergraduate level, yet are actively engaged in teaching the subject.
