The World Health Organization – WHO has launched a new ‘ investment round ‘ with the aim of raising seven billion dollars to help countries deal with challenges like climate change, displacement, poverty and inequality . WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a social media post that the world is facing a difficult time with many challenges. He said that the goal of the investment round is to raise funds to deal with these challenges.

2 Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences will organize ‘Pragati-2024’ program​

Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) is hosting the event “ Pragati-2024 in Ayurvedic Science and Technology Innovation ” on May 28, 2024 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi . CCRAS is an autonomous body under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. This interactive meeting focuses on exploring research opportunities and promoting collaboration between CCRAS and the Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Industry. The event will be inaugurated by Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH.

3 DD Kisan channel launches 2 AI anchors​

DD Kisan, a channel of the Government of India’s public broadcaster Doordarshan , has launched two artificial intelligence (AI) anchors on 26 May 2024. One of them is AI Krish and the other is AI Bhoomi. These AI anchors will broadcast information related to the latest prices of agricultural mandis, weather updates and the latest research done in agriculture in India and abroad. AI anchors can broadcast news 24 hours a day, 365 days without stopping or getting tired. DD Kisan was launched on 26 May 2015 and is celebrating its 9th year of establishment. The world’s first AI news anchor was introduced by Chinese state news agency Xinhua in 2018, named Qiu Hao. The first AI news anchor in India, Sana, was introduced by India Today Group in 2023 on Aaj Tak Hindi news channel.

4 First hydrogen bus handed over to Indian Army under “Olive Green – Going Green”​

In a significant move towards promoting eco-friendly transportation, Indian Oil has delivered state-of-the-art hydrogen-powered buses to the Indian Army . The agreement was signed at an event held at the National War Memorial, India Gate in the presence of Army Chief General Manoj Pandey and Indian Oil Chairman SM Vaidya . The initiative aims to promote hydrogen and battery-based technology in heavy vehicles. Hydrogen fuel cell technology provides a clean and efficient alternative to electrical energy by converting hydrogen gas into electricity through an electro-chemical process. The process leaves water vapor as the only emitted substance and thus ensures zero emissions. The hydrogen fuel cell bus has a seating capacity of 37 passengers. It offers an impressive mileage of 250-300 km on a full 30 kg onboard tank of hydrogen fuel.

5 Gorkha mountaineer Purnima Shrestha of Nepal created history by climbing Mount Everest three times within 13 days​

Purnima Shrestha , a 32-year-old mountaineer from Gorkha, Nepal and a photojournalist by profession, has created history by climbing Mount Everest three times in just 13 days in the same season. She has become the first woman in the world to do so. Purnima has climbed Everest a total of four times so far, before this she climbed Everest in 2018.

6 RBI imposes fine of ₹3.1 lakh on Hero FinCorp​

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a fine of lakhs on Hero Group ‘s non-banking financial company Hero Fincorp . RBI has imposed a total fine of Rs 3.10 lakh on this NBFC . RBI has imposed this penalty on the company for not following some rules related to the Fair Practice Code. The Reserve Bank said in this regard that action has been taken against the company for regulatory reasons. This fine will not affect the customers in any way.

7 Disney will sell 30 percent stake in Tata Play to Tata Group, company’s valuation is $1 billion​

The Walt Disney Company has struck a deal to sell its 30% minority stake in Tata Play Ltd to the Tata Group , valuing the company at about $1 billion. The move allows Disney to focus on merging its Indian unit with Mukesh Ambani’s Viacom 18 Media Pvt, creating an $8.5 billion entertainment giant.

8 PV Sindhu lost to China’s Wang in Malaysia Masters​

Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu of India failed to win the BWF Malaysia Masters 2024 badminton title. She lost to Wang Zhi Yi of the People’s Republic of China in the women’s singles final played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 26 May 2024. The BWF Malaysian Masters 2024 was held in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia from 21-26 May 2024. This was Wang Zhi Yi’s second title of the year. Earlier, she won the BWF Indonesia Masters 2024 title.
