An order by the Bombay High Court which dismissed public interest litigation (PIL) filed against Vice-President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar and Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju for their alleged remarks against the judiciary was upheld by the Apex Court today.

The order was passed by the Bench of Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah

The bench said it believes that the view of the High Court is correct. It further said that whether anyone has used inappropriate statement,is to be decided on by the Supreme Court.

The Court disposed of an appeal filed against a Bombay High Court ruling from February this year, in connection with public remarks made by the Vice-President and the Union Law Minister against the Collegium, the judiciary and the Supreme Court.

The High Court in its order had said that the credibility of the Supreme Court cannot be eroded by statements of individuals.

In its plea, the Association had contended that the remarks in question amounted to a “frontal attack” launched on the judiciary in “most insulting and derogatory language” and without using any recourse available under the Constitution.
