The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of Justice CS Sudha, who is a currently positioned as an additional judge at the Kerala High Court, as a permanent judge of that Kerala High Court.

TheKerala High Court Collegium unanimously recommended the appointment of Justice Sudha as permanent judge on June 21.

As per the compendium,the Chief Minister as well as the Governor had also been made aware with the recommendation after which it was sent to the Supreme Court Collegium.

As per the resolution of the Supreme Court Collegium the judges of the apex court conversant with Kerala High Court were also consulted to understanding the suitability of appointing Justice Sudha as a permanent judge.

The resolution stated that with a view to assess the merit and suitability of Smt Justice C S Sudha for appointment as permanent Judge, we have scrutinized and evaluated the material placed on record.

It added that having taken into consideration all aspects of the matter, the Collegium is of the view that Smt Justice C S Sudha, Additional Judge, is fit and suitable for being appointed as permanent Judge.

The Collegium finally resolved to recommend that Justice CS Sudha be appointed as a permanent judge of the Kerala High Court.

As on August 1, Kerala High Court is functioning with 34 judges, as against a sanctioned strength of 47 judges
