Due to the ongoing heatwave conditions, the Jharkhand government has extended the school closure for students up to Class 8 for the third time this year until June 21. The move is aimed at protecting students from extreme heat. However, students in Classes 9 to 12 will be required to attend school from 7 am to 11 am. The maximum temperatures in Jharkhand have been hovering between 41 and 46 degrees Celsius. The Ranchi Meteorological Centre has predicted that there is unlikely to be any improvement in the maximum temperature for the next few days.
