Srikakulam Sherlockholmes Review

Vennela Kishore is known for his unique comedic style and impeccable timing, which has earned him a wide fan base. Now, stepping into the lead role, he stars in Srikakulam Sherlock Holmes, a mystery-comedy film directed by writer Mohan. The question is has Vennela Kishore managed to impress in this new role? Let’s find out.

Story: The film’s plot centers around the brutal murder of a young woman named Mary in Vizag. The police struggle to crack the case, and one officer proposes an unconventional solution: bringing in a local detective from Srikakulam, Sherlock Holmes (played by Vennela Kishore). The story follows how this quirky, yet clever, local detective tracks down the killer.

Performances: Vennela Kishore shines in his role as the detective, once again delivering with his signature comedic timing. His character’s intelligence and emotional depth resonate with the audience, making the performance both entertaining and relatable. Ananya Nagalla continues to impress with her acting range, while Ravi’s performance is adequate for his role.

Technical Aspects: The songs are seamlessly integrated into the plot, contributing to the progression of the story. Additionally, the editing and cinematography are commendable and enhance the overall viewing experience. Director Mohan attempts to present the film not just as a traditional detective story but as an exploration of human relationships. Alongside the murder mystery, themes of love, trust, and honesty are portrayed dully.

Analysis: Srikakulam Sherlock Holmes is a detective thriller centered around a murder mystery. The plot is filled with twists and turns, but they fail to keep the audience engaged. The screenplay, in particular, does not stand out even the average viewer may struggle to predict the culprit until the very end.

While detective stories often focus solely on unraveling mysteries, this film expands beyond that, weaving in elements of family values and romance and this creates a very dull feeling to the film. The screenplay is bad and does not create a sense of interest among the audience. Vennela Kishore goes a bit overboard initially but he was good in the end.

For audiences expecting light-hearted comedy, the emotional segments may feel drawn out and slow. While the emotional depth adds to the story, some viewers might find these scenes to stretch the narrative unnecessarily. There is no sense of seriousness in most of the scenes in the film and it lacks novelty. A better narrative would have made matters a lot better.

Verdict: Overall, Srikakulam Sherlock Holmes offers a blend of mystery and humor but is told in an over-the-top manner. Ananya Nagalla does well but the thrills do not hold your attention one bit making this film a silly and boring watch.

Bottom Line: Silly, boring and outdated

Rating: 1.5/5
