Sports festival under the Fit India programme concludes at Abdullah Hall

ALIGARH : The week-long sports festival organized by the Abdullah Hall of residence for female students of the Aligarh Muslim University under the Fit India campaign concluded here with prize and certificate distribution to the winners and other participants by the chief guest, Prof Syed Tariq Murtaza, Department of Physical and Sports Education.

Addressing the students, Prof. Murtaza emphasized the importance of integrating fitness routines into daily life and urged the students to participate in some kind of sports activities to keep fit and healthy.

Earlier, welcoming the guests, the Provost of the Hall, Dr. Ghazala Naheed said that the programme aimed at promoting fitness and healthy living among students. He appreciated the efforts of students who participated in a large number in various kinds of athletics events, including Javelin Throw, Discuss Throw, Shotput Throw, Log Jump, 100 meter and 200 meter race, badminton and skipping rope race.

She also administered the Fit India pledge to the students and teachers, highlighting the significance of fitness in achieving holistic well-being. She urged the students to embrace healthy lifestyle practices.

Mr. Vishak, Ms. Aasfa and Mr. Vishnu Kumar conducted a special Yoga session with more than 450 students and teachers participating in the sports activities.

Dr. Razia Rizvi was the guest of honour.

Ms. Mehwash Khan supervised the holding of various events, and later extended a vote of thanks at the valedictory function.

In the Javelin Throw, Noor Ansari won the first place while Zoya Naaz and Rabiyah were declared the second and third, respectively.

Zainab, Rabiyah and Zoya Naaz, respectively got the first, second and third positions in the Shotput Throw, while Zainab, Sarika and Ifrah held the first, second and third positions in the Discuss Throw.

Sana, Zoya and Zahida claimed the first, second and third positions in the Long Jump, while Zahida, Rubab amd Samreen held the first, second and third positions in 100 meter race and Zahida, Rubab and Kulsum were declared the first, second and third prize winners of 200 meter race.

In Badminton, Ahlab and Alisha emerged as the winner, while Shahla and Sarika were declared he runner up.

In the Skipping Rope Race, Sakina, Ilsa and Shifa held the first, second and third positions respectively.
