ALIGARH : The Ahmadi School for the Visually Challenged, Aligarh Muslim University has organized a four-day sports festival under the Fit India Week campaign launched by the Government of India to spread awareness among young school students about keeping fit and remaining conscious of adopting a healthy lifestyle.
Addressing the inaugural function, the chief guest, Prof. Zamirullah Khan, Department of Physical Education said that being fit and healthy is taking good care of mind and body, as a healthy mind resides only in a healthy body.
He urged the students to participate in the sports events with increased passion and adopt several physical work-out measures to keep fit and healthy.
The Principal of the school, Dr Naila Rashid said that the Fit India Week campaign is a good initiative by the Government of India and it will have a long lasting impact on the health of the people.
She said that several sports events have been planned during the four-day festival, including the Yoga dance, PT Drill, Tug of War and inter-school competitions. Starting with the Tug-of-War event, the STS School team won the event.
