SHRESHTA​


SHRESHTA means Scheme for Residential Education for SC Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas. This scheme was launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in 2023.

SHRESHTA scheme​


The SHRESHTA Scheme, an initiative by the Indian government, focuses on providing high-quality residential education to deserving students. Students are selected for SHRESHTA via an entrance examination i.e., NETS.

It provides scholarships covering almost all educational expenses of the meritorious students of classes 9 and 11 belonging to Scheduled Caste communities.

Under the scheme, a significant number of seats are allocated in reputed residential schools for students in Classes 9th and 11th. This enables students to access better educational opportunities and receive comprehensive support to excel in their academic journey.

SHRESHTA Entrance Exam​


NETS is a National Entrance Test for SHRESHTA. SHRESHTA Entrance Exam conducted by the NTA in Computer Based Test mode. Candidates who qualify the SHRESHTA entrance exam are shortlisted for admission to CBSE affiliated schools.

SHRESHTA Scholarship​


Under this scheme, the government will disburse the SHRESHTA scholarships directly to the schools giving admission to the students shortlisted for the scheme.

SHRESHTA Entrance Test details

SHRESHTA is applicable only residential schools (independent) affiliated with the CBSE up to Class 12 Schools must be in operation for 5 years or more with 75 % pass percentage or more in Class 10 and 12 in the last 3 years.

  4. Read and Check the NETS details
    After clicking on that link, NETS information bulletin PDF file will open in your device. Candidates should read carefully the Instructions given in the Information Bulletin.

  5. Download the Information Bulletin PDF
    After reading the all information, download the information bulletin. Take a print it and preserve it for future reference.

  1. What is SHRESHTA (NETS) 2023?​


    The government has approved a new scheme named SHRESHTA (Residential Education for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas) for the purpose of providing seats for the meritorious SC boys and girls in the best private residential schools in the country. Every year, it is expected that about (3000) students would be selected for admission in Class 9 and Class 11 under the scheme.

  2. When will SHRESHTA (NETS) Examination be conducted?​


    The SHRESHTA NETS examination will be conducted on 07 May 2023.

  3. Whether the examination will be offline or online?​


    SHRESHTA (NETS) Examination will be held in pen and paper mode (Offline) in OMR sheet.

  4. What would be the language of Question Paper?​


    The language of question papers is in Bilingual (English and Hindi).

  5. Is it mandatory to upload SC Category Certificate?​


    Yes, Uploading of SC Category Certificate is mandatory. In case the SC Certificate is not available at the time of submission of Online Application, an Undertaking to the effect that the candidate will produce the SC Certificate at the time of Examination.

  6. What is the eligibility criteria for appearing in SHRESHTA (NETS)?​


    Only those candidates who have passed/ appearing in Class VIII for taking admission in Class IX and those appearing/passed in class X for taking admission in Class XI whose parental income is up to ₹ 2.50 lakh. This scheme is only for those candidates who have passed or are appearing in session 2021-2023. For more details refer to the Information Bulletin.

  7. What are the age limit for the candidates appearing in SHRESHTA (NETS)?​


    the age limit for the candidates appearing in SHRESHTA (NETS) is for Class VIII – Born between 1st April 2006 to 31st March 2010 and For Class X–Born between 1st April 2004 to 31st March 2008.
