On his way to work, Vidit Sharma always noticed people waiting outside Noida’s government hospital. They were mostly daily wage workers who were exhausted and burdened by responsibilities and increasing medical bills.

While they catered to their loved ones inside the hospital and ensured that they got the best care, they often neglected their own basic needs, including food. Vidit was moved by their inability to afford a simple meal for themselves.

To provide a for those already suffering, the 33-year-old started Jan Rasoye in 2024. Through this venture, he provides home-cooked rajma chawal, chole chawal, and dal chawal for just Rs 5.

One might wonder, “Why not offer it for free?” This is to ensure that everyone has the dignity of paying for their meal. “People should not feel that they are having it for free. They feel happy giving some amount of money,” Vidit shares.

Janrasoye serves almost 700 plates daily.

Working with a team of ten currently, Vidit hopes to serve 3,000 plates daily and expand to different hospitals across Noida. His mission is to serve hygienic, home-cooked food to labourers who work hard daily and often miss out on complete nutrition.

“Seeing the gratitude in their eyes . Together, we can make a difference in the lives of many. These meals are full of love and much-needed nutrition, providing hope and sustenance to those who need it most,” he adds.

Vidit also runs Save a Stray Foundation, through which he feeds and . He works in an automobile company.
