Schools, Colleges to Remain Closed in Karnataka’s Dharwad Owing to Heavy Rains

School Holiday: All anganwadis, pre-primary, primary, high school and undergraduate colleges in the Dharwad District will remain closed today, July 27, 2024. The announcement was made by Dharwad District Collector Divya Prabhu on Friday. This announcement came amid the incessant rainfall and cold winds witnessed across Dharwad district.

The India Meteorological Department(IMD) said, “Isolated extremely heavy rainfall very likely over Konkan & Goa, Gujarat Region on 26th; Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra on 26th & 27th July.” Earlier July 25 and 26 were also announced as holidays in view of the heavy rainfalls in the district

The Meteorological Department has also predicted very heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh on July 26 and 27 while heavy rainfall is likely to occur in the Vidarbha region on July 27 and in Konkan and Goa on July 27 and 28; in Madhya Maharashtra on July 28; Saurashtra & Kutch on July 26, 28 and 29; Gujarat Region during 27 to 29 July.

“Very heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh on 26th & 27th; Vidarbha on 27th; Konkan & Goa on 27th & 28th; Madhya Maharashtra on 28th; Saurashtra & Kutch on 26th, 28th & 29th; Gujarat Region during 27th – 29th July,” the press release said.

IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat State during July 26 to July 30; Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh during July 26 to 28; Marathwada on July 27.
