On this special day, educations institutions and banks remained closed in Uttar Pradesh in the observance of the festival. On this auspicious day, people celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna, who according to mythologies, born in Mathura and raised in Vrindavan city because of which the festival has a tremendous significance in Uttar Pradesh. It’s no surprise to see children dressed-up as Radha or Krishna, spreading joy with their adorable costumes and playfulness.
Notably, as many as 67 districts in the state will have a five-day holiday due to the Police Constable Recruitment Exam, which will be held at selected locations in UP.
It is worth noting that, August, which is about to end, was filled with an abundance of holidays as incessant rains caused schools to shut down, gifting students with an extended weekend. This also coincided with celebrations for Raksha Bandhan and Independence Day, adding to the holiday spirit. Now, with Janmashtami around the corner, students of certain districts in Uttar Pradesh can look forward to even more school closures.

To facilitate the recruitment test, they’ve set up 1,174 examination centers, which has led to 81 schools in Lucknow being temporarily closed to serve this purpose. The exam procedure is split into two daily shifts—10 AM to 12 PM and 3 PM to 5 PM—to accommodate the large number of applicants.
