Scented candles are just not fragrance; rather it is the signature of an artistic lifestyle. Vanilla, rose, lavender, sandalwood, citrus, berries, lilacs, and jasmine are a few popular fragrances you may consider choosing from them. Following some simple tricks, you can make scented candles at home.

Items required

  • One package of candle-making soy wax
  • Large candle wicks
  • One bottle of your favourite fragrance oil
  • One spatula
  • One heat-proof container
  • One double boiler
  • One thermometer
  • One pair of chopsticks or pencils

How to make

  1. Measure the wax: Measure how much wax you need to fill the container and then double it. This is how much wax you need to melt for making the candle. Be certain that you are working on a clean surface.
  2. Melt the wax: The next step is to melt the wax. Keep the wax inside your double boiler and then allow it to melt for 15 minutes. You need to stir the wax frequently.
  3. Add the essential oil into the wax: Now add the essential oils or fragrance oil into the wax. Check when your candle wax is melting; this is the time to add a few drops of fragrance inside the wax. Simply pour it inside the melted wax. Stir it for a few seconds. You can choose fragrance from the wide variety available in the market. However, you can choose a floral fragrance to add.
  4. Attach the wick: You must attach to wick to the bottom of your container before the wax is poured. Dip the wick into the melting wax and quickly stick it to the bottom of the container. Allow the wax to harden for five minutes.
  5. Pour the wax: Cool the wax for a few minutes and watch if the temperature on the thermometer reaches 140 degrees. It is time to pour the wax then. Pour it slowly into the container. Hold the wick in place, but do not pull on it.
  6. Secure the wick: To keep the wick stable, you will have to secure it. Keep two chopsticks at the top of the container and lay it. It is the process to keep the wick stay centred while the wax hardens.
  7. Trim the wick: Your wick should be less than half an inch long. Trim the wick in case it is longer to avoid a tall flame.

Your classic scented candle is ready. It is a beautiful gift that you can gift to close ones. You can also keep it at home as home-décor.
