Aligarh : Prof. Abdul Latif, a retired senior faculty member and former Chairman of the Department of Ilmul Advia, Faculty of Unani Medicine at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has been honored with the 3rd Sheikh Zayed International Award for Traditional, Complementary, and Alternative Medicine (TCAM). The award ceremony, organized by the Lotus Holistic Institute, took place in Abu Dhabi.
The Sheikh Zayed International Award for TCAM is named after the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The award aims to recognize and honor eminent TCAM academics, scientists, and physicians globally for their distinguished contributions.
The award, presented on December 12, by a member of the Royal Sheikh Zayed family, recognizes Prof. Latif’s research and contributions to Unani Medicine. The honor includes a certification and a pure gold medal.
Prof. Latif has authored 23 books, published over 100 research papers, and established advanced laboratories in pharmacology and microbiology at AMU. His book Ibn Sina and Uzbekistan is housed in the National Library of Uzbekistan. He also identified “Latif-Sukul Syndrome”.
Dr. Abdur Rauf, Chairman of the department, commended Prof. Latif for achieving global recognition.
