Regan Crotty, who has a decade of experience at Princeton in various administrative roles, is the University’s new dean of undergraduate students. Crotty was appointed in the spring to lead the (ODUS), which supports the co-curricular and extracurricular experiences of undergraduates.

As dean, Crotty oversees the areas of undergraduate residential life, student organizations, activities and government, and student conduct, among other duties. ODUS is part of the .

“Regan brings many strengths to the role, including her excellent judgment, compassion, keen intellect, insight and willingness to collaborate,” Vice President for Campus Life W. Rochelle Calhoun said. “She is deeply committed to the undergraduate community on campus and to supporting student well-being and belonging.”

Crotty, a Class of 2000 graduate who earned her law degree from the University of Chicago Law School, previously worked in ODUS as a residential college director of student life. From 2014 to 2022, she served as the University’s director of gender equity and Title IX administration in the Office of the Vice Provost of Institutional Equity and Diversity.

She was the University’s first external investigator for the Office of the Vice President for Campus Life. She also served as the office’s interim executive director for planning and administration.

“I am honored to serve as dean of undergraduate students and to lead an office of extraordinary student affairs professionals,” Crotty said. “I share in President Eisgruber’s (and before him, President Bowen’s) goal that all students feel that they are at Princeton as ‘hosts,’ not merely as ‘guests,’ and the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students plays a critical role in ensuring that all of our students feel that they belong at Princeton.”

Beyond her many roles at Princeton, Crotty was an assistant general counsel at the firm Morgan Lewis from 2022 to spring 2024 and was a general litigation associate at Dechert LLP from 2003-12.

Crotty succeeds Kathleen Deignan, who retired as dean of undergraduate students earlier this year.
