The Prime Minister inaugurated the Pune Metro section from District Court to Swargate, which also marks the completion of Pune Metro Rail Project (Phase-1) . In addition, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of Swargate-Katraj extension of Pune Metro Phase-1 to be developed at a cost of about Rs 2,955 crore. This southern extension of about 5.46 km is completely underground, with three stations namely Market Yard, Padmavati and Katraj. The Prime Minister dedicated to the nation the Bidkin Industrial Area , a transformational project spread over 7,855 acres under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme of the Government of India. It is located 20 km south of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra. Developed under the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor, this project has immense potential as a vibrant economic hub for the Marathwada region. The Central Government has approved this project at a total cost of over Rs 6,400 crore for development in 3 phases. The Prime Minister also inaugurated the Solapur Airport , which will significantly improve air connectivity, making it easier for tourists, business travellers and investors to reach Solapur. The existing terminal building at Solapur has been renovated to serve around 4.1 lakh passengers annually. In addition, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of the memorial of Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule, the first girls’ school at Bhidewada.

2 Om Birla inaugurates 21st CPA Zone III India Region Conference​

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla inaugurated the 21st Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Region III Conference held in Aizwal, the capital of Mizoram , on September 27, 2024. The conference, held at the Mizoram Legislative Assembly Complex in Aizwal on September 27 and 28, 2024, aimed to deepen the democratic process in the Northeast region of the country. The conference aims to promote cooperation and dialogue among the Northeast State Legislatures, focusing on addressing regional challenges through democratic means. The CPA Region III Conference was attended by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who is also the Chairman of the Commonwealth India Region, Rajya Sabha Deputy Speaker Harivansh, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma. Apart from these, CPA Region III Chairman, Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker Tsheringen Longkhumer, Mizoram Legislative Assembly Speaker Lalbiakzama and Deputy Speaker Lalfamkima also participated. The theme of the CPA Region-III Conference was “Democratic Sanctity, Transparency, Accountability and Results from Democracy”.

3 10 years of ‘Mann Ki Baat’​

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the countrymen through the ‘ Mann Ki Baat ‘ program at 11 am on Sunday . In his 114th episode, PM Modi said that today’s episode is going to be emotional. He said that the Mann Ki Baat program is completing 10 years . The Mann Ki Baat program was started on October 3 in 2014. That day was Vijayadashami . It is a very pleasant coincidence that this time October 3 is the first day of Navratri. PM Modi raised the issue of water conservation in his program. He said that conservation of rainwater now will be useful in times of water crisis. He said that many people are doing very good work in this direction. One such effort has been seen in Jhansi , Uttar Pradesh . Some women in Jhansi have given new life to the Ghurari river . These women are associated with the self-help group. These women have led this campaign by becoming Jal Saheli .

5 Inauguration of Oxygen Bird Park in Jamtha, Nagpur.​

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri. Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the Oxygen Bird Park (Amrit Mahotsav Park) along the Nagpur-Hyderabad National Highway-44 in Nagpur , Maharashtra . Oxygen Bird Park (Amrit Mahotsav Park) is an eco-initiative developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) near Jamtha along the Nagpur-Hyderabad National Highway-44. Covering a total area of 8.23 hectares, including 2.5 hectares dedicated for social forestry, the park is designed as a natural bird habitat and a recreational spot for locals and tourists. The project, which integrates environmental sustainability and recreational facilities, was formally sanctioned in March 2023 at a cost of Rs 14.31 crore.

7 KVIC- NIFT signed MoU for ‘Khadi Centre of Excellence’-2.0 (CoEK-2.0)​

Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MoMSME) and National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Rajghat, New Delhi (Delhi) under ‘ Khadi Centre of Excellence-2.0 (CoEK-2.0) ‘ to enhance the reach and marketability of ” Brand Khadi ” domestically and internationally.

8 India won bronze medal in the first Asia Pacific Padel Cup in Bali, Indonesia​

The Indian team won the bronze medal defeating Malaysia in the first edition of the Asia Pacific Paddle Cup (APPC) 2024 , which was held at Amare Paddle Club Umalas, Bali, Indonesia from September 19 to 22, 2024. India participated in its first tournament and secured this position in the first paddle competition among countries in the Asia Pacific region. Indonesia won the gold medal, while the Philippines won the silver medal in the tournament.

9 Scotland agrees to host 2026 Commonwealth Games after Australia withdraws​

Glasgow, the capital of Scotland , has been declared the host city of the 2026 Commonwealth Games . It is the 23rd edition of the Commonwealth Games (CWG). The Australian state of Victoria has decided to withdraw from hosting the 2026 Commonwealth Games due to higher than estimated expenditure. Glasgow is going to host the games for the second time in 12 years. The city had previously hosted the event in 2014. The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) has pledged financial support of £100 million and the United Kingdom (UK) government has also agreed to provide financial support.

10 Dhanush, the only medalist at the Junior World Weightlifting Championships​

17-year-old Dhanush Loganathan was the only Indian to win a medal at the IWF Junior World Weightlifting Championships 2024. In the last year’s edition held in Guadalajara, Mexico , India failed to win a single medal. Dhanush Logabathan won the bronze medal in the men’s 55 kg event . He lifted 231 kg (107 snatch + 124 kg clean and jerk) to win the bronze medal. In the same competition, Martina Devi Maibam set two national records in the 85+ women category but failed to win a medal. India sent a nine-member contingent – 3 men and 6 women – to the IWF Junior World Weightlifting Championships 2024. The IWF Junior World Weightlifting Championships 2024, for weightlifters under the age of 21, was held in Leon, Spain from September 19 to 27, 2024. The championship was organised by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).

11 India wins seven medals including two gold at Junior World Championships in Brunei​

In the World Junior Wushu Championship held in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei , the Indian team won seven medals including two gold medals. India also won two gold, one silver and four bronze medals in the competition. India’s Aryan won the gold medal by defeating China’s player Gong Huanran in the 48 kg weight category. Apart from this, in the 48 kg weight category, India’s Shaurya won another gold medal by defeating Iran’s opponent Alireza Zamani. Nang Mingbi Borphukan won the silver medal in the Taolu Jian Shu C Group competition. Indian player Tanish Nagar won the bronze medal after losing to Abdulkhamid Odilov of Uzbekistan in the 56 kg weight category. Apart from this, Abhijeet in the 60 kg weight category, Divyanshi in the women’s 60 kg weight category and Yuvraj in the 42 kg weight category won the bronze medal. A 24-member Indian team participated in this tournament.

12 Gulveer Singh won gold in 5,000m race at World Athletics Continental Tour in Japan​

26-year-old Indian athlete Gulveer Singh won the gold medal in the men’s 5,000m race at the World Athletics Continental Tour in Japan . He set a new national record with a timing of 13 minutes and 11.82 seconds . He broke his own previous record of 13 minutes and 18.92 seconds , which he had set earlier this year. Earlier, this record was in the name of compatriot Avinash Sable . In March this year, Gulveer broke the men’s 10,000m record at the Ten Track Meet in California. He crossed the finish line in 27 minutes and 41.81 seconds and in doing so he improved Surender Singh ‘s old mark of 28 minutes and 2.89 seconds, set almost 16 years ago in 2008. However, Gulveer’s effort was not enough for Olympic qualification as he missed the Paris Games qualification time of 27 minutes and 41 seconds.
