The Semicon India 2022 conference was organized in Bengaluru last year to showcase India as a hub for semiconductor design and manufacturing . Based on the success in this, the India Semiconductor Mission has organized the Semicon India Conference, 2023 on the theme ‘ Catalyzing India’s Semiconductor Ecosystem ‘ at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar , Gujarat . organised. The conference was attended by over 8,000 participants from over 23 countries. The SEMICON India conference, 2023 witnessed participation from industry leadership from leading global companies such as Micron Technology, Applied Materials, Foxconn, Cadence and AMD and industry association, SEMI. The three-day SEMICON India Conference 2023 was inaugurated by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and in his special address he emphasized on the role of semiconductors in the daily life of the people and how India is committed under the SEMICON India program to build semiconductor manufacturing plants .

Two bronze statues of Gyalsras Bakula Rinpoche, former Ambassador of India to Mongolia and Padma Bhushan awardee , have been installed in Moscow . Gyalsras Bakula Rinpoche was a well-known leader from Ladakh , who was India’s ambassador to Mongolia for a decade. He became a Lok Sabha member twice and was also a minister in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir . Buddhism in the erstwhile Soviet Union and Mongolia He is highly respected by the people of Mongolia and Russia because of his efforts to revive it. As per reports by our Leh correspondent, a 6 feet statue of him has been installed in a Buddhist temple in Moscow in a sitting posture. Another 9 feet statue of him in standing posture has also been installed in a city park.

Ministry of Education and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship signed 106 MoUs with various reputed organizations and institutions in New Delhi . These MoUs were done on the occasion of the All India Education Summit 2023 and the third anniversary of the National Education Policy . The partnership covers public and private institutions, school education, literacy and higher education. Central Board of Secondary Education-CBSE has signed 15 MoUs with organizations like Atal Innovation Mission, IBM, Intel and Microsoft . This MoU focuses on skill development and education. National Institute of Open Schooling – NIOS has signed three MoUs. One of these is with the Indian Symbol Language Research and Training Center to promote the Indian Symbol Language . NCERT has signed twenty MoUs for e-content development and delivery. Six MoUs have been signed in the field of higher education to promote the Indian knowledge system. Six MoUs have been signed on international alliances. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has signed six MoUs to provide high skills and knowledge to the youth. This partnership reflects the government’s commitment to promoting excellence in education and innovation in India.

Scientists from the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, an autonomous institute under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, have conducted a study in which Parkchik Glacier, Suru River Valley, Ladakh Himalaya, The morphological and dynamic changes of India have been described. These findings were published in the journal ‘Annals of Glaciology’.

Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) of the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD ) conducted an online consultation on Advancing Nutritional Security by Promoting Sustainable Agro-Nutritional Gardens and Livestock Husbandry Practices through Community-Based Organisation. Technical partners Roshni Center and TA to NRLM (PCI) assisted in conducting this consultation. The main findings of the consultation were that it is important to strengthen the community through capacity building, promotion of indigenous varieties of crops, management of seeds, community kitchen gardens and mitigation strategies for animal health risks. In addition, extension services for health care of livestock, ensuring sustainability, Focusing on social and cultural norms along with social and behavioral change communication approaches and nutrition literacy are key areas to promote consumption of produce. Coordinating with various departments and programs to improve women’s nutrition can be a concrete solution for cost-effective, sustainable models for income enhancement and better nutritional outcomes.

11 Asian Development Bank will give $ 295 million to improve the roads of Bihar

The Government of India and ADB have signed an agreement for a $295 million loan to finance this infrastructure transformation.

Hun Sen , Cambodia ‘s longest- serving prime minister, said he would step down in three weeks and hand over the reins to his eldest son. In the recently held elections, the elder son of PM Hun Sen has won the Parliament for the first time. Hun Sen said his son would be nominated as prime minister after the National Election Commission reports the final results of the election. The Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) won 120 out of 125 seats in the election.

Simulation of TerrestriAl Radio Frequency Interference in oRbits around Earth – STARFIRE is an advanced algorithm developed for estimating and mapping unwanted RFI signals in space. The STARFIRE algorithm can estimate and detect RFI emitted by a variety of sources, including FM radio stations, Wi-Fi networks, mobile towers, radar, satellites and communications equipment. This innovative algorithm has the potential to revolutionize space-based astronomy missions and enrich the data obtained from such missions in the future. 15 Phase II of Fame India
Recently, the Ministry of State for Heavy Industries in a written reply to the Lok Sabha highlighted the development of the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid and) Electric Vehicles in India (FAME India) Scheme Phase II . With the objective of promoting Electric Vehicles (EVs) in the country, the FAME India scheme has made significant progress in encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles and expanding electric mobility infrastructure. ‘FAME India’ is an important part of the National Electric Mobility Mission (NEMM). The main thrust of ‘FAME’ is to encourage electric vehicles by providing subsidies. Two Phases of the Scheme: Phase-I started in the year 2015 and ends on March 31, 2019 has been completed. The scheme covers hybrid and electric technologies such as mild hybrid, strong hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery electric vehicles. The second phase has started from April 1, 2019, which is going to run till March 31, 2024. The government has made a provision of Rs 10,000 crore for this.
16 White Label ATM
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has given permission to non-bank companies to set up white label ATMs. Has taken a significant step to promote ATM penetration especially in Tier III to VI centers by allowing to set up, own and operate (White Label ATM- WLA). These WLAs provide various banking services to the customers based on the cards issued by the banks and RBI has implemented measures to improve their viability and functioning. As of now four authorized non-bank entities are operating White Label ATMs in the country. ATMs established, owned and operated by non-banks are called WLAs. Non-bank ATM operators are authorized by the RBI under the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007. They provide banking services to customers using debit/credit/prepaid cards issued by banks. Apart from cash disbursement, WLAs provide services like account enquiry, cash deposit, bill payment, mini statement, PIN change and check book request.

RECEIC, with 39 multinational corporations, aims to adopt resource efficiency and circular economy principles to address environmental challenges from waste. It focuses on tackling problems such as plastics, microplastics, e-waste and chemical waste. India’s efforts in reducing the burden of plastic waste have been emphasized through the Extended Producers’ Responsibility (EPR) guidelines. In the year 2021-22, 41 lakh tonnes of plastic waste was generated in India, of which 30 lakh tonnes were allocated to registered recyclers and plastic waste processors. EPR certificates worth 2.6 million tonnes were generated by plastic waste processors,
