Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Chairman of the Japan-India Association and former Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga . Mr. Suga is visiting India with a delegation of over 100 members. This includes government officials, the Japan Business Federation and members of the parliamentary group. Shri Modi welcomed Shri Suga on his first visit to India as the President of the Association. The two leaders discussed further strengthening the Special Strategic and Global Partnership, including investment and economic cooperation, railways, connectivity and skills development partnership.

2 First IIT outside India The campus will be set up in Zanzibar, Tanzania​

The Ministry of External Affairs has said that the first IIT campus outside India will come up in Zanzibar , Tanzania . An agreement has been signed to set up a campus of IIT Madras in Zanzibar . External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and President of Zanzibar Hussein Ali Mwini on the agreement Signed in the presence of The Ministry of External Affairs has said that the complex reflects the long-standing friendship between India and Tanzania and is a reminder of India’s efforts to build people-to-people links across Africa and the Global South. Dr. Jaishankar has said in the tweet that this historic step shows India’s commitment towards the Global South. The Ministry of External Affairs has said that as per the recommendation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, well performing Indian universities will be encouraged to set up campuses in other countries. Dr. Jaishankar is currently on a four-day visit to Tanzania. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwini, the President of Zanzibar, warmly welcomed Dr. Jaishankar. EAM along with the President of Zanzibar attended the reception onboard INS Trishul.

3 India and Singapore signed a document to extend the existing MoU to enhance cooperation till 2028​

India and Singapore signed a document to extend till 2028 the existing MoU on enhancing cooperation in the field of Personnel Management and Public Administration . It was signed by V. Srinivas, Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances and Simon Wang, High Commissioner of Singapore to India. It aims to strengthen the partnership between the two countries by enhancing cooperation between civil service officers of India and Singapore. The MoU provides for cooperation in the areas of administrative reforms and public sector transformation, leadership and talent development, e-governance, capacity building and training.

Prospects for bilateral partnership in sharing the space economy were discussed on the first day of the G20 Space Economy Leaders Meet in Bengaluru , Karnataka . ISRO Chairman S Somnath told that during the meeting the partnership between space agencies, industries and start-ups was discussed. It also discussed possibilities of rule of law in space, guidelines and regulations in space missions, possibility of upgrading the G20 Space Economy Leaders Forum and how to bring new countries into the space sector. Shri Somnath said that economy, responsibility and alliances were also discussed extensively in the meeting towards a new space age.

5 Global Peace Index 2023​

The Global Peace Index ranking is released annually by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) . Recently ‘ Global Peace Index 2023 ‘ has been released by IEP. A total of 163 countries around the world were included in this list . Iceland has made its place as the most peaceful country in this list . The island has consistently ranked first in the World Peace Index since 2008 . The second place belongs to Denmark . Apart from this, Afghanistan has been placed as the most troubled country in the world . Afghanistan has been ranked last in the World Peace Index for the fifth time in a row. India ranked 126th in Global Peace Index 2023 Received. India has gained as compared to last year, last year India got 135th rank which has come down to 126th. This year India got a score of 2.314. Among the neighboring countries of India, Bhutan has got 17th place in the world. Apart from this, Pakistan has got 146th position, Bangladesh 88th, Nepal 79th, Maldives 23rd and Sri Lanka 107th. Along with this, Myanmar has been given 145th place and China has been given 80th place.

6 YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched ‘Jaganna Amma Vodi’ scheme​

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has taken a significant step towards promoting education and empowering mothers through the implementation of the Jagananna Amma Vodi scheme . With an allocation of Rs 6,392 crore, the initiative aims to provide financial support to around 42 lakh mothers, providing them with an annual gift of Rs 15,000 for sending their children to school. Through the Amma Vodi scheme, around 83 lakh students from class 1 to intermediate level will be benefited from the financial assistance provided by the state government. By directly supporting mothers, the scheme recognizes the important role they play in shaping the educational journey of their children.

7 Administrative Council approves establishment of Department of Public Grievances as a separate administrative department in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir​

In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Administrative Council has approved the establishment of the Department of Public Grievances as a separate administrative department . This department will ensure better administration and redressal of public grievances. This approval was given in the council meeting chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha . Earlier, the subject of redressal of public grievances was entrusted to the Department of Administrative Reforms, Inspection, Training and Grievances. This administrative reform is in line with the Government’s commitment to promote grievance redressal and citizen-centric governance through e-governance.

8 Union Home Ministry launched “Scheme for Expansion and Modernization of Fire Services in States” with a total outlay of Rs 5,000 crore​

The Union Home Ministry has allocated Rs 5,000 crore for “Expansion and Modernization of Fire Services in States ” from the earmarked allocation under Preparedness and Capacity Building Fund under National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to strengthen fire services in states. The scheme has been launched with a total outlay of Rs. Out of the total outlay, an amount of Rs 500 crore has been earmarked to incentivize the states based on their legal and infrastructure-based reforms. In this regard, a letter has been sent to the chief secretaries of all the states and the heads of the fire services. The scheme was announced by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah while presiding over the meeting with State/UT Disaster Management Ministers held on June 13, 2023 in New Delhi. The objective of the scheme is to expand and modernize the fire services within the NDRF, thereby strengthening the fire services at the state level through the preparedness and capacity-building component of the NDRF. For allocation of funds for projects/proposals under the scheme, 25% of the total cost of these projects/proposals to the respective State Governments (except North-Eastern and Himalayan (NEH) States, who will contribute 10%) will have to contribute from their budgetary resources. The recommendation of the Fifteenth Finance Commission (XV-FC) is behind the launch of this scheme.

9 IN-USN Rescue and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Exercise – SALVEX​

The seventh edition of Indian Navy – US Navy (IN-USN) Rescue and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) exercise, SALVEX was conducted from 26 Jun – 06 Jul 2023 at Kochi . IN and USN have been participating in joint rescue and EOD exercises since 2005. The exercise saw participation from both the navies, which included specialist diving and EOD teams, besides ships- INS Inspector and USNS Salvar. The 10 day long expedition saw the diving teams of both the countries share maritime experiences and rescue and train in various aspects of EOD operations on land as well as at sea. SALVEX also saw the conduct of joint training exercises with a view to enhance interoperability, synergy and benefit from mutually best practices in maritime rescue and EOD operations.

10 India-Africa International Coarse Cereals Conference in Nairobi, Kenya​

To celebrate the International Year of Millets (SriAnn), the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development of Kenya will co-host the ‘ India-Africa International Millets Conference ‘ in Kenya . The conference will be organized with the support of the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT). 30-31 August 2023 The world’s government leaders, researchers, farmers, entrepreneurs and industry associations will participate in this international conference. The official preview event for the ‘India-Africa International Coarse Cereals Conference’ was held in Nairobi, Kenya. It offered a glimpse of what to expect.

11 A contingent from all three services of India leaves for France to participate in the Bastille Day Parade of France​

Fourteenth of July is celebrated in France as ‘ Fête Nationale Française ‘ or National Day . This day is also known as Bastille Day because the Bastille was stormed on this day during the French Revolution in 1789 . The anniversary of that attack is celebrated on this day. Bastille Day Parade to be held in France this year to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi‘ has been invited as the guest of honour. This year’s parade will see a 269-member contingent of the three wings of the Indian Armed Forces marching along with a contingent of the three armies of France. This interaction between the armies of India and France continues since the First World War. This year both the countries are celebrating 25 years of strategic partnership. The armies of both the countries are participating in joint exercises and are also sharing their respective experiences.

12 Negotiations with four new countries to join OPEC​

Recently, the Secretary General of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) told that discussions are going on with four new countries Azerbaijan, Malaysia, Brunei and Mexico to join the organization. OPEC was established in the year 1960 with founding members Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela which now consists of 13 member countries . OPEC produces about 30% of the world’s crude oil and its members account for about 60% of the global petroleum trade . In the year 2016, OPEC expanded its organization to include 10 major oil producing countries, OPEC+ was formed. OPEC+ consists of 13 OPEC member states along with Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Brunei, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mexico, Oman, Russia, South Sudan and Sudan. Its objective is to coordinate and integrate petroleum policies, stabilize the oil market, ensure steady supply of petroleum to consumers, provide reliable income to producers and provide reasonable returns on investment in the petroleum industry. OPEC is headquartered in Vienna, Austria.

13 Minister of State for Defense inaugurated CSD Depot at Ambala​

Minister of State for Defense Shri Ajay Bhatt inaugurated the new campus of Canteen Stores Department (CSD) Depot at Ambala on 5 July 2023 . The complex has been constructed by Dedicated Freight Corridor India Limited under the Ministry of Railways in lieu of the old land of CSD Depot. Established in 1948, CSD has 34 regional depots across the country.

Imperial College London and the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa) have collaborated to develop an innovative prototype drone called the Firedrone . This state-of-the-art technology aims to address the limitations of current drones used in firefighting and provide vital direct data from burning buildings or threatened areas in woodland have to provide. The primary purpose of firedrones is to assess hazards and collect critical information from hazardous areas during firefighting operations. This can provide invaluable insight to first responders, including details about trapped persons, building layouts and unexpected hazards. This real-time data can significantly enhance emergency response strategies and help keep firefighters and citizens safe. Lightweight, thermally super-insulating materials such as glass fiber and polyimide airgel were used to create a protective casing for the firedrone.

16 India’s first ‘Police Drone Unit’ launched in Chennai​

Greater Chennai City Police (GCP) has launched ‘ Police Drone Unit ‘ for aerial surveillance and quick detection of criminal activities over vast areas . According to a press release issued by the GCP, the project costing around Rs 3.6 crore was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu ‘s outgoing Director General of Police (DGP) C Sylendra Babu at Besant Avenue, Adyar in the presence of Chennai Police Commissioner Shankar Jival .

17 India’s Top Rank in Sri Lanka’s Tourism Sector​

In Sri Lanka ‘s tourism sector, Indians accounted for the largest number of tourists visiting Sri Lanka in the first six months of this year. According to Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority data, more than 26,000 Indian tourists visited Sri Lanka in the month of June. This has improved the tourism sector of Sri Lanka. 18 Case filed in World Court against Iran for downing passenger plane in the year 2020​

A case has been registered in the World Court against Iran for downing a passenger plane in the year 2020 . Canada, Sweden, Ukraine and Britain have demanded action against Iran from the International Court of Justice. A case was filed against Iran in the United Nations Supreme Court for the downing of a Ukrainian passenger plane in 2020. All 176 passengers and crew members were killed in the incident . Most of the dead were citizens of Canada, Sweden, Ukraine and Britain, as well as Afghanistan and Iran. The four countries want Iran’s downing of the Ukrainian international airliner to be declared illegal.

The Indian pair defeated Israel in the final in Limerick, Ireland . There was a tough match between the two countries yesterday and the Indian players beat Israel by 146 points against 144 points. India’s pair of Manav Jadhav and Aishwarya Sharma also won the bronze medal by defeating Mexico in the Cadet Mixed Compound event. Achieved it.
