Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched “ Sankalp Saptah ” , a week-long special program for aspirational districts at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi . On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi launched the Aspirational Block Program Portal. Also inaugurated the exhibition. ‘Sankalp Saptah’ is associated with the effective implementation of the Aspirational Block Program (ABP). The Prime Minister launched the nationwide program on January 7, 2023. It aims to improve governance at the block level to enhance the quality of life of citizens. It is being implemented in 500 aspirational blocks of 329 districts of the country. Brainstorming camps were organized at village and block level across the country to implement the Aspirational Block Program and prepare an effective block development strategy. ‘Sankalp Week’ is the result of these thinking camps. ‘Sankalp Saptah’ will be celebrated from 3 October to 9 October 2023 in all 500 aspirational blocks.

2 22nd Law Commission recommends the government to retain the current age of consent under the POCSO Act​

The 22nd Law Commission has recommended the government to retain the existing age of consent under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. The commission said in its report that reducing it could have a detrimental effect on the fight against child marriage and child trafficking. in India The current age of consent is 18 years. It also said that there is a need to bring some amendments in the POCSO Act to address the situation in cases where there is not consent but tacit assent to the law on the part of the child aged between 16 to 18 years. It opined that such cases should not be dealt with as seriously as the cases which were ideally envisioned to be brought under the POCSO Act. The Commission on 27th of this month informed the Law Ministry “The report titled “Age of Consent under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act, 2012 ” has been submitted.

The Reserve Bank of India has extended the deadline for exchanging Rs 2000 notes till October 7. The Reserve Bank said in a statement that the process of exchanging notes was coming to an end and on the basis of a review, it has been decided to continue the current arrangement for depositing or exchanging Rs 2000 notes till October 7. According to the data received from banks, as of May 19, 2023, Rs 2000 notes worth a total of Rs 3 lakh 56 thousand crore were in circulation, out of which notes worth Rs 3 lakh 42 thousand crore have been returned and on September 29, 2023. At the close of business only Rs 14 thousand crore notes are in circulation. While announcing the withdrawal of Rs 2000 notes on May 19, the Reserve Bank of India had said that their validity will remain till September 30 this year.

17 FSSAI bans use of newspapers for food storage​
