1 Prime Minister Modi and Spanish Prime Minister inaugurated ‘Tata Aircraft Complex’ in Gujarat
PM Narendra Modi and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez inaugurated the Tata Aircraft Complex at the Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) campus on 28 October . TASL is located in Vadodara, Gujarat. It has been set up to manufacture C-295 aircraft . This complex has been built by Tata Advanced Systems to manufacture C-295 aircraft. A total of 56 aircraft are to be manufactured under the C-295 project. Of these, 16 aircraft are being delivered by Spanish aerospace company Airbus . After this, the remaining 40 aircraft are to be manufactured in India. Tata Advanced Systems Limited is responsible for manufacturing these 40 aircraft in India. This complex is the first private sector final assembly line for military aircraft in India. It will include manufacturing of aircraft to assembling their parts and testing them. Along with this, maintenance facilities for aircraft will also be provided. Apart from Tata, major public sector units of the defense sector such as Bharat Electronics and Bharat Dynamics as well as private micro, small and medium enterprises will contribute to this program. PM Modi laid the foundation stone of the Vadodara final assembly line in October 2022.
2 Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi inaugurated ‘Swavalamban 2024’ at Bharat Mandapam
On 28 October, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi inaugurated ‘ Swavalamban 2024 ‘. It is being organized on 28 and 29 October at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi . ‘Swavalamban 2024’ aims to promote the indigenization efforts of the Navy. It showcases indigenous equipment made from India’s specific technology, which the Indian Navy can use in the coming days. Air and surface surveillance, autonomous systems in surface, aerial and underwater domains and AI and quantum technology are being showcased in this program. ‘Swavalamban 2024’ gives a glimpse of how various equipment were made for the Indian Navy in a year and how the Make in India program is constantly touching new heights. This program has been going on for the last two years.
3 Global Finance Magazines Name SBI as India’s Best Bank for 2024
On October 27, Global Finance named State Bank of India ( SBI ) as India’s Best Bank for 2024. The magazine recognized SBI as the Best Bank of 2024 at its 31st Annual Best Bank Awards ceremony in Washington. Earlier, on August 6, the government announced the appointment of Setty as the new chairman of SBI for a period of three years. He replaced Chairman Dinesh Kumar Khara. The appointment was proposed by the Financial Services Institution Bureau (FSIB), which has been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). Apart from Setty, the government appointed Rana Ashutosh Kumar Singh to take over as Managing Director (MD) in SBI. SBI has a chairman and 4 MDs assisting him.
4 IAS Vipin Kumar appointed Chairman of Airports Authority of India
Vipin Kumar, a 1996 Bihar cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, took over as the Chairman of the Airports Authority of India on 28 October 2024. He replaced M Suresh, who was appointed interim chairman by the Government of India after the elevation of the former chairman, IAS officer Sanjiv Kumar.
5 US, Japan and South Korea to support digital infrastructure in India
The United States, Japan, and South Korea have announced that they will launch a new framework to collaborate with the Indian private sector to support digital infrastructure in India. This new framework called the Digital Infrastructure Growth Initiative for India Framework (Digi Framework) was announced on 26 October 2024. The Digi Framework will be supported by the US International Development Finance Corporation, Export-Import Bank of Korea (Korea Eximbank), and Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC). In August 2023, DFC, JBIC, and Korea Eximbank signed an agreement to strengthen coordination and cooperation among like-minded countries to promote sustainable economic growth in the Indo-Pacific region by supporting private sector investment in infrastructure.
6 Kochi wins most sustainable transport system award at 17th UMI 2024
The city of Kochi in Kerala has been awarded the Most Sustainable Transport System Award for its Metro at the 17th India Urban Mobility (UMI) Conference & Expo 2024. The award winners in various categories were felicitated at the 17th India Urban Mobility Conference & Expo 2024 held at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, Gujarat on 27 October 2024. The closing session of the 17th India Urban Mobility Conference & Expo 2024 was addressed by Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar. The 17th India Urban Mobility Conference & Expo 2024 was organized by Urban Transport Institute (India) under the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in partnership with the Government of Gujarat and Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Limited. It was held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat from 25-27 October 2024. The theme of the 17th India Urban Mobility Conference & Expo 2024 was “Standardization and Customization of Urban Transport Solutions”. 7 Country’s first heli ambulance service will start in AIIMS Rishikesh
AIIMS Rishikesh will provide heli ambulance facility on the lines of 108 ambulance service in Uttarakhand . With the start of heli ambulance service, seriously injured people from any part of the state can be brought to AIIMS Rishikesh quickly and the patient’s life can be saved without wasting time. On October 29, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually launch the country’s first heli ambulance service from Delhi. AIIMS Rishikesh Executive Director Prof. Meenu Singh said that this will be the country’s first heli ambulance service. This service operated under Sanjeevani Yojana will be free of cost. The service toll-free number will be issued soon. Its benefits will be available in entire Uttarakhand.

9 Union Minister Prahlad Joshi launched the mobile app of Food Corporation of India’s complaint redressal system in New Delhi
Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi launched the Mobile App of Food Corporation of India ‘s Grievance Redressal System in New Delhi . This mobile app will help in redressal of complaints of rice mill owners . This is one of the measures taken by the Centre for transparency, accountability and satisfaction of stakeholders. The government is continuously focusing on the use of technology for efficient administration.
10 India won 24 medals at Japan Para-Badminton International 2024
India won 24 medals at the Japan Para Badminton International tournament . India won six gold, nine silver and nine bronze medals . Paralympians Shivarajan Solaimalai and Sukant Kadam led the Indian medal haul at the Tokyo event. Shivarajan Solaimalai won two gold medals at the Tokyo event . He won the gold medal in the men’s singles SH6 category and then won the gold medal in the doubles event in partnership with Sudarshan Saravanakumar Muthusamy . Top Indian para-shuttler Sukant Kadam won the gold medal in the men’s singles SL4 category by defeating fellow Indian player Tarun in the final. The pair of Umesh Vikram Kumar and Suryakant Yadav won the gold medal by defeating the Indian pair of Sukant and Dinesh Rajaiah in the doubles match of SL3-SL4 category . In the women’s SU5 category, Manisha Ramdas won the gold medal by defeating Japan’s Mamiko Toyoda in the final. Hardik and Ruthik Raghupati won the sixth gold medal for India in the men’s SU5 doubles. In the final they defeated the pair of Dev Rathi (Indian) and Bartlomiej Mroz (Poland).
11 Afghanistan A beat Sri Lanka A to win the 2024 Emerging Asia Cup
Afghanistan A men’s cricket team defeated Sri Lankan A team by seven wickets to win the sixth ACC Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024. Earlier, the Afghanistan-A team had reached the semi-finals in the years 2017 and 2019. The Asian Cricket Council organized the sixth ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Oman from 18-27 October 2024. This was the first time that the ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup was held in T20 format. Regular Test players from India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan do not participate in the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup tournament. Afghanistan’s Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar became the Man of the Match for taking 2 wickets for 14 runs. Afghanistan’s Sediqullah Atal, who scored 368 runs in the tournament, was declared the Player of the Tournament. The sixth ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup was held in T20 format, and eight Asian teams participated in it. The Indian team was captained by Tilak Varma and the team mainly comprised players from the Indian Premier League (IPL). The ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup is organised by the Asian Cricket Council, the governing body of Asian cricket.
12 India won 9 medals in ‘Under 23 World Wrestling Championship 2024’
The Indian wrestling team won 9 medals in its Under 23 World Wrestling Championship 2024. This includes one gold, 1 silver and 7 bronze . Last year also the Indian wrestling team won 9 medals in the Under 23 World Wrestling Championship 2023 held in Tirana. The Under 23 World Wrestling Championship 2024 was organized by the world wrestling governing body United World Wrestling . Competitions were held in 10 weight categories of freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling in the Tirana Championship. Both male and female wrestlers under the age of 23 participated in the championship. India sent a 30-member wrestling team to the Under 23 World Wrestling Championship 2024. Chirag Chikkara won the only gold medal for India . He won this medal in the men’s freestyle 57 kg competition. United World Wrestling is the governing body of wrestling sport in the world.
