Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the International Cricket Stadium in Varanasi . The modern international cricket stadium will be developed at Ganjari, Rajatalab in Varanasi at a cost of approximately Rs 450 crore and will be spread over an area of more than 30 acres. The architecture of this stadium is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Inspired by the Indian Railways, designs have been developed for the crescent-shaped roof cover, trident-shaped lights, seating arrangement based on ghat stairs and belpatra-shaped metal sheets on the façade. The capacity of the stadium will be 30,000 spectators. Shri Modi is on a tour to his parliamentary constituency Varanasi. He is participating in three different programs in Varanasi and starting development projects worth more than Rs 1.5 thousand crores.

The Central Government has said that 75 percent of the villages in the country have become free from open defecation . Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said in a press conference in New Delhi that these villages have been declared ODF Plus under the second phase of Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin. The number of such villages has exceeded 43 thousand. ODF Plus status is given to villages that are free from open defecation and have also implemented solid and liquid waste management systems. The Union Minister said that 14 states and union territories have achieved 100 percent villages ODF Plus status . In this Goa, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar, Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir are also included. He said that the government has set a target of achieving 100 percent sanitation in all the villages of the country by 2024-25 under the second phase of Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin.
