He said that the working system of Congress for 75 years has been to weaken the unity, integrity and national interest of the country. This uninhabited island has long been a point of dispute between India and Sri Lanka over fishing rights and sovereignty. India’s Environment Ministry recently implemented new rules that will make it more difficult for manufacturers of disposable plastic products to label them as ‘ biodegradable ‘. As per the updated Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules, 2024, it is now required that biodegradable plastics not only decompose through biological processes in specific environments, but also do not leave any microplastics behind . Biodegradable and compostable plastics are two broad categories of technological solutions to tackle the problem of plastic waste pollution.

  • Biodegradable plastics are treated before being sold and when thrown away they are expected to decompose naturally over time, although no tests have yet been conducted to determine this. whether they decompose completely or not.
  • Compostable plastics, on the other hand, do decompose but require industrial or large municipal waste management facilities.

The new amendments to the Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules, 2024 define biodegradable plastics as substances that not only decompose through biological processes in specific environments such as soil or landfills, but also leave no microplastics behind. Don’t leave.
