Postpone NEET MDS 2024: The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) on Thursday wrote a fresh letter to the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, over the NEET MDS -2024 Exam and the issue of the ineligibility of aspirants. Urging the authorities to postpone the NEET MDS 2024 exam to July, the Federation of All India Medical Association took to the micro-blogging site and wrote, “Almost 4607 dental undergraduate students are facing the issue of being ineligible for the NEET MDS exam due to the internship cut off date issued by the National Board of Examination (NBE).”

Here’s What FAIMA In Its Letter Said

Sharing a copy of the letter, FAIMA wrote, “Almost 4607 dental undergraduate students are facing the issue of being ineligible for the NEET MDS exam due to the internship cut off date issued by the National Board of Examination (NBE).” “These students served the nation during the COVID19 pandemic compromising their professional years and ended up having delays in their internship completions. It is also seen that with the current exam date being 18th March 2024 for NEET MDS, with so many confusions about the scheduled exam, the students will not be able to perform well in their exams,” FAIMA further said.

FAIMA has requested a postponement of the NEET MDS 2024 exam to a later date, preferably in July 2024, citing the challenges faced by dental students in the country. They urge for this delay to ensure fairness for dentists and doctors who served during the COVID-19 pandemic. They highlighted the potential increase in ineligible candidates, including those currently ineligible due to internship completion rules set by the NBE, who aim to serve the nation.

We request ji to Postpone NEET MDS exam minimum to July 2024 & extend the date of eligibility to 31 August 2024 so as to accomodate COVID affected batches to give exams. to suggest dates to Ministry accordingly

— FAIMA Doctors Association (@FAIMA_INDIA_)

“Considering the above facts and issues being faced by the dental students of our country we humbly request you to postpone the NEET MDS 2024 exam to a later date preferably in July 2024, so that there shall not be any injustice done to the dentists/doctors who served the nation during the most crucial times of COVID 19 pandemic. This is because there shall be a maximum number of students becoming eligible for the exams including those who are left ineligible due to current rules set by NBE regarding internship completion and shall serve the country,” FAIMA said.

BJP Joins NEET MDS 2024 Postponement

Amid appeals from student organizations like AISU, FAIMA, and FORDA India, voices within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have echoed the call for postponing the NEET MDS exam. Originally slated for March 18, the NEET MDS 2024 exam has come under scrutiny due to concerns that hundreds of candidates may miss it because of eligibility issues. The BJP Medical Cell has forwarded a letter to Mansukh Mandaviya urging for the postponement of the NEET MDS examination and an extension of its eligibility criteria.

Dr. Govind Bhatane, the State Coordinator of BJP Medical Cell Maharashtra, emphasized the concerns raised by NEET MDS 2024 aspirants, emphasizing that numerous candidates are ineligible due to delayed internships caused by COVID-19.
