PM announces ex-gratia for the victims of explosion at Anakapalle

A major fire occurred after a reactor explosion ripped through Escientia Life Sciences’ factory in Anakapalle on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. Latest reports suggest that 17 people have died and approximately 33 are injured. The death toll may rise as several people are still stuck underneath the rubble.

The explosion and the fire occurred during the lunch break at Escientia’s factory at Atchutapuram Special Economic Zone, a pharmaceutical company hub.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the loss of lives due to the mishap and wished speedy recovery for those injured. He also announced an ex-gratia from PMNRF of Rs. 2 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased and Rs. 50,000 for those injured.
