Pakistan has extended a formal invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting to be held in Islamabad in October this year . In a weekly press conference, Pakistan Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that all the Heads of State and Government of the SCO, including Prime Minister Modi, have been invited to attend the forthcoming Council of Heads of Government meeting in Islamabad on October 15 and 16. The nine member countries of the SCO include India , Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan .
2 Challa Srinivasulu Setty takes over as SBI Chairman
Challa Srinivasulu Setty took over as the Chairman of State Bank of India (SBI) on Wednesday, August 28. He replaced Dinesh Khara, who retired on August 27. As per convention, the appointment to the post of chairman is made by one of the serving managing directors of SBI. Challa Srinivasulu Setty has been appointed as the Chairman of SBI for a term of three years. The proposal was made by the Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) and approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). Setty has also headed various task forces and committees constituted by the Government of India.

4 The second Arihant class nuclear submarine ‘INS Arighat’ was inducted into the Indian Navy in Visakhapatnam today in the presence of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh
The second nuclear submarine of the Arihant class ‘ INS Arighat ‘ was inducted into the Indian Navy in Visakhapatnam in the presence of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. The submarine INS Arighat has been built under the Advanced Technology Vessel (ATV) project at the shipbuilding center in Visakhapatnam . After the Navy got the 6,000 – ton nuclear-powered submarine INS Arighat, India will now be able to face the growing challenges from China in the Indian Ocean region for strategic resistance. This is the second submarine of the Arihant class built in India. India’s first ballistic missile submarine INS Arihant was launched in August 2016 after 9 years of extensive testing. After two years of testing, it was fully operational in 2018. INS Arighat was launched in 2017 after a long wait of almost five years. The submarine was originally known as INS Aridhaman but was renamed INS Arighat upon its launch. The submarine has undergone extensive testing for seven years. The blade propellers of INS Arighat, the second missile submarine of the Arihant class, will be powered by water reactors. The submarine can run at a maximum speed of 12-15 knots (22-28 km/h) on the surface of water and can attain a speed of 24 knots (44 km/h) at deep sea. The submarine will have eight launch tubes on its hump. It can carry up to 24K-15 Sagarika missiles with a range of 750 km or 8K-4 missiles with a range of 3,500 km. These Arihant class nuclear-powered submarines are being designed and built under the $2.9 billion Advanced Technology Vessel (ATV) project. The presence of both INS Arihant and INS Arighat will enhance India’s ability to deter potential adversaries and safeguard its national interests.
5 She-Box portal launched to make workplaces safe for women
The Ministry of Women and Child Development on Thursday launched the new She-Box Portal , a centralized platform for registering and monitoring complaints of sexual harassment of women at workplace . Speaking at the launch of the portal, Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi said, “This initiative is a significant step towards providing a more efficient and secure platform for resolving complaints of sexual harassment at workplace. It furthers the government’s commitment to create a safer and more inclusive working environment for women across India. She expressed confidence that the portal will ensure that complaints can be registered securely without making personal information public.
6 Himachal government approves ‘Mukhyamantri Sukh Shiksha Yojana’
The Himachal Pradesh government has allocated Rs 53.21 crore annually for the ‘ Mukhyamantri Sukh Shiksha Yojana ‘. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to socially and economically weaker women and parents of disabled children to enable education and welfare of their children. Under the scheme, children below 18 years of age from eligible families will receive a monthly grant of Rs 1,000 to meet education, health and nutrition-related expenses . For those pursuing graduation, post-graduation, diploma or vocational courses, the government will provide financial assistance for tuition and hostel costs.

The Ambani family’s wealth is Rs 10.15 lakh crore and it has increased by 25% in a year. In this list, HCL owner Shiv Nadar and Family are at number three with Rs 3.14 lakh crore. At the same time, Serum Institute owner Cyrus S. Poonawala and Family are at number four with assets of Rs 2.90 lakh crore. According to the report, the number of billionaires in India has now increased to 334. Since the inception of the Hurun list 13 years ago, it has increased six times. 9 University of Southampton to set up a campus in India under National Education Policy 2020
Southampton University will set up a campus in India under the National Education Policy 2020. The University Grants Commission handed over the letter of intent to the University of Southampton. 10 Finance Ministry amended the Securities Contract Regulation Rules, 1956
The Finance Ministry has amended the Securities Contract Regulation Rules-1956, which will allow Indian public sector companies to be directly listed in international stock markets . 11 Women’s Asian Champions Trophy will start from November 11 this year in Rajgir, Bihar: Hockey India
