The Indian government has announced an additional round of admissions for MBBS courses to fill vacant seats. Around 2,200 seats are said to be vacant, including 156 in the all-India quota. These vacancies include seats that were declared invalid by the National Medical Commission for violating norms. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare approached the Supreme Court to seek an extension for admissions to prevent wastage of medical seats. The Medical Counselling Committee has set a new deadline for admissions on November 15.
