The government of Odisha has initiated the process of installing Wi-Fi services in state public university campuses. The higher education department has requested universities to submit estimates for the installation of free Wi-Fi services. The aim is to improve the academic environment by providing students with access to online study resources. Some universities have already installed Wi-Fi using their own funds, while others are in the process of doing so. The provision of free Wi-Fi and 1 GB data for students was a promise made in the ruling party's election manifesto.
