New Delhi: Success is not measured by what you accomplish, but by the obstacles you overcome – Nothing illustrates this proverb better than the story of Isha Singh, a third-year computer science(CS) student from Noida, who secured a prestigious internship at Google. Read her viral story here.
In a post on X(previously Twitter), Singh outlined the details of the rigorous selection process for the Google software engineering summer internship in 2025. According to the thread on X, Singh received an email from her college’s Training and Placement cell in June asking her to fill up the application form for Google’s summer internship hiring.
Sharing a post on X, she wrote,” Finally, got an offer from @Google for software engineering intern 2025. Here goes the thread for how it all happened!! It was an on campus opportunity and I filled the application form provided from TnP cell of my college.” After completing the form, she participated in a virtual career talk and undertook an online assessment that included challenging questions on graphs and dynamic programming. The questions were slated to be solved in 90 minutes.
Just one day after the online assessment, a total of 30 students were shortlisted for the first round of interviews in which Singh was one of them. “Then, on July 22nd, 30 students were shortlisted for the first round of interviews, and I was fortunate to be one of them. On the same day,all the shortlisted candidates had a session with the recruiter concerned over interview preperation and other necessary details,” reads her post. There were 2 rounds of interviews.
She revealed that the first interview, which lasted 50 minutes, challenged her problem-solving abilities with two complex questions on data structures and algorithms. The second interview, lasting 45 minutes, followed a similar format, featuring a series of demanding questions to evaluate her expertise. The post reads, “The interviews were scheduled for the very next day, leaving us with almost no time to preparstion. There were two rounds of interviews, each primarily focused on Data Structures and Algorithms and problem-solving. Both rounds were eliminatory in nature.”
Singh’s rigorous preparation and hard work paid off when she was ultimately selected for the internship. She shared her excitement: “Result: Selected This is a dream come true. I had never thought about clearing the first interview of my life that too in GOOGLE.” Till now, the viral thread has received over three thousand likes and over 87 retweets.
