1 New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra and West Indies’ Healy Matthews win ICC Player of the Month awards
ICC has announced the best player of the month of October . Among men, Rachin Ravindra of New Zealand has won this award. There itself, among women, Healy Mathews of West Indies has won this award. Rachin, who performed brilliantly in the World Cup 2023, won this award by defeating Jasprit Bumrah and Quinton de Kock. 25-year-old Hayley Mathews, who won this award among women, scored 99*, 132 and 79 during the T20 series of West Indies’ tour of Australia. She also became the Player of the Series.
2 Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will attend the 10th Meeting-Plus of Defense Ministers of ASEAN countries in Jakarta from November 16 to 17.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh 10th Meeting of Defense Ministers of ASEAN Countries -Plus (ADMM-Plus) in Jakarta , the capital of Indonesia from 16 to 17 November. will attendOn the sidelines of the ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting, Mr Singh will also hold bilateral meetings with the Defense Ministers of the participating countries. During these sessions they will also discuss issues related to defense cooperation. ADMM is the highest defense consultation and cooperative mechanism in the interest of ASEAN countries. Since 2017, ADMM-Plus Ministers have been meeting annually to promote cooperation between ASEAN and Plus countries. Indonesia is hosting the meeting as it is the chair of ADMM-Plus.
3 Uttarkashi: Silkyara Tunnel Accident
On November 12 , a portion of the tunnel under construction from Silkyara to Dandalgaon in Uttarkashi , Uttarakhand collapsed, trapping around 36-40 workers. The incident occurred as part of the Char Dham All Weather Road project , which aims to connect Uttarkashi and Yamunotri . , which aimed to reduce the journey betweenTeams of police force, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are present at the spot and efforts to rescue the stranded people are currently underway. As of now, all 40 workers have been confirmed safe, they are being provided oxygen, water and adequate food. A new rescue plan is being worked on. For this, 900 mm drilling is done inside the tunnel through auger drilling machine. diameter hume pipe is being inserted. The administration is in constant touch with the workers. Meanwhile, a committee of six members has been formed under the chairmanship of Uttarakhand Landslide Mitigation and Management Center to investigate the causes of landslide in the under-construction tunnel.
4 Status of India’s Smart Cities Mission
The latest data from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs as of November 3, 2023, provides information on the status of India’s Smart Cities Mission . As the mission’s June 2024 deadline approaches, the report highlights geographical gaps in terms of highest performing cities, financial achievements and project completion. Surat (Gujarat) has emerged as the top performing city by leading in completion of projects, utilization of funds and overall parameters. Agra (Uttar Pradesh), Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Varanasi (UP) and Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) have ranked among the top five cities, showing commendable progress . The rest of the top 10 include Tumkuru (Karnataka), Udaipur (Rajasthan), Madurai (Tamil Nadu), Kota (Rajasthan) and Shivamogga (Karnataka). The bottom 10 cities are Kavaratti (Lakshadweep), Puducherry, Port Blair (Andaman and Nicobar Islands), Imphal (Manipur), Shillong (Meghalaya), Diu, Guwahati (Assam), Aizawl (Mizoram), Gangtok (Sikkim) and Pasighat ( Arunachal Pradesh). About 22% of the total projects (1,745 out of 7,947) worth Rs 1.70 lakh crore i.e. 33% of the total cost are still in progress. Most of the projects (6,202) have been completed , highlighting the scope and cost of the mission.
5 Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue 2023 (IPRD-2023)
Indian Navy ‘s annual top-level international conference – Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue (IPRD) – will be held at New Delhi from 15 to 17 November 2023 . In this program on 15 November 23, Honorable Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar will include a keynote address by on 15 November 23 and a series of special addresses by various Union Ministers and senior officials of the Government of India, who will be participating in the mega conference ( -regional-dialogue-2023/) has been designed to provide broad guidance to the discussions taking place. IPRD is in pursuance of Goa Maritime Conclave 2023. This conclave was organized by the Indian Navy from 29 to 31 October 2023 at Goa.
6 Rear Admiral CR Praveen Nair assumes charge as Fleet Commander, Sword Arm

Rear Admiral CR Praveen Nair , NM takes over as the Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet from Rear Admiral Vineet McCarty during a ceremonial naval parade at the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai. Rear Admiral CR Praveen Nair was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 01 July 1991. He is an alumnus of the Naval Academy, Goa and the Defense Services Staff College, Wellington and the US Naval War College, Newport, USA. He has served as Flag Officer Commanding the Assistant Chief of Naval Personnel (Policy & Plans) at Naval Headquarters.
7 National Health Authority (NHA) in collaboration with IRDAI organizes catalytic workshops on Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) integration and NHCX adoption
The National Health Authority (NHA) and the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) have joined hands to operate the National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX) , a digital health claims platform developed by the National Health Authority . The initiative comes in the context of a circular issued by IRDAI in June 2023, under which the insurance regulator had advised all insurers and providers to onboard NHCX. NHCX will serve as a gateway for exchange of claims related information between various stakeholders in the healthcare and health insurance ecosystem. The integration with NHCX will enable seamless working with other systems for handling health claims, increasing efficiency and transparency in the insurance industry and benefiting policyholders and patients. In this regard, a three-day workshop was organized in New Delhi from 7 to 9 November, primarily aimed at onboarding hospital providers into NHCX and fully integrating insurance companies with NHCX.

Morgan Stanley Research has forecast that India’s economy will grow at about 6.5% for fiscal years 2024 and 2025. , driven by strong domestic fundamentals. Financial institutions cite strong domestic demand, resilience in the corporate and financial sectors and progressive policy reforms as key factors supporting India’s growth despite the global economic slowdown.
9 Lieutenant Colonel Sanjeev Malik, an officer of Army Medical Corps, created history by winning five gold medals in the World Medical and Health Games held in Colombia.
Army Medical Corps officer Lieutenant Colonel Sanjeev Malik has created history by winning five gold medals in the 42nd World Medical and Health Games held in Colombia . He is currently posted in the Presidential Body Guard at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi. His victories in the 800m, 1500m, 3000m, 5000m and cross-country events make him the only athlete to achieve such a spectacular feat at these Games to be held in the year 2023. He has become one of the few selected athletes in these games which started in 1978 . The World Medical and Health Games are often referred to as the Olympic Games for health professionals . These games have evolved into the most prestigious global sporting events in the medical community.
10 Uttam Singh was made the captain of India in the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup to be held in Kuala Lumpur.
Uttam Singh has been made the captain of India in the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup to be held from December 5 to 16 in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) . In this tournament, current Asian champion India has been placed in Pool C along with Canada, South Korea and Spain. India has to play its first match against Korea on December 5. The Indian team will play Spain on December 7 and Canada on December 9. India had finished fourth in the tournament last time. Pool A features Argentina, Australia, Chile and Malaysia while Pool B features teams from Egypt, France, Germany and South Africa. Pool D consists of Belgium, Netherlands, New Zealand and Pakistan.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has recently made a major change in his cabinet and dismissed Home Minister Suella Braverman . Also, former Prime Minister David Cameron has been appointed as the new Foreign Minister . In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Downing Street, it has been said that former Foreign Minister James Cleverly will be made the new Home Minister in place of Ms. Braverman. Suel Braverman’s recent controversial statements regarding immigrants, some protesters, homeless people and the police have sparked controversy in Mr Sunak’s cabinet. There were speculations that she was eyeing the post of Prime Minister for which she was hatching a kind of conspiracy. Ms Braverman published an article last week targeting the handling of a protest march on Saturday, criticizing police duplicity in dealing with Palestine supporters.
12 Acharya J. B. Kripalani Jayanti
Recently the Prime Minister of India has paid tribute to Acharya Jeevatram Bhagwandas (JB) Kripalani on his birth anniversary ( November 11, 1888 in Hyderabad, Sindh ). He joined Gandhiji’s movement in 1917 and was also a part of the Non-Cooperation Movement, Civil Disobedience Movement and Quit India Movement . At the time of independence he was the President of the Indian National Congress (INC) . He left the Congress after independence, and was among the founders of the Kisan Mazdoor Praja Party (KMPP) . He moved a no-confidence motion for the first time in the Lok Sabha in the year 1963, immediately after the India-China war (1962). Kripalani was the author of several books, including Gandhi: His Life and Thought (1970) . His autobiography ‘ My Times’ Times’ was published posthumously in 2004.
13 World Diabetes Day
World Diabetes Day (WDD) is observed every year on 14 November , marking the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, who co-discovered insulin in the year 1922 with Charles Best . The WDD was initiated in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the World Health Organization as a response to the growing health threat of diabetes. WDD received official recognition as a UN Day in 2006 through the adoption of UN Resolution 61/225. Its logo, adopted in the year 2007, indicates a blue circle which symbolizes diabetes awareness. Its theme for 2021-23 is ‘ Access to Diabetes Care ‘.
14 Birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru
Children’s Day is celebrated every year on 14 November to pay tribute to the first Prime Minister of independent India . Jawaharlal Nehru was born on 14 November 1889 . Jawaharlal Nehru was also fondly called ‘ Chacha Nehru ‘ and was famous for his affection and care for children and his support of education and rights. Every year 13 November is celebrated as World Kindness Day . World Kindness Day is based on the thread of positive power and kindness which inspires us to highlight good deeds in the society. World Kindness Day was initiated in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement organization, which was founded by kindness organizations from around the world at the 1997 Tokyo conference. In 2019, the organization was registered as an official NGO under Swiss law. Currently, the World Kindness Movement consists of more than 28 nations that are not affiliated with any religion or political movement.

Sahara chief Subrata Roy died in Mumbai on Tuesday (November 14). Subrata Roy, popularly known as ‘ Saharashree ‘, founded Sahara India Parivar in 1978 . After establishing Sahara, Subrata Roy progressed very rapidly. He was born on 10 June 1948 in Bihar . He was once one of the leading businessmen of India. Roy was involved in business ranging from media to real estate etc. Sahara Group has been in a long-running fight with market regulator SEBI. SEBI ordered Sahara Group to return investors’ money and in 2010 banned two Sahara Group companies and Roy for raising money from the public.
