Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud on Monday said that the Supreme Court will introduce digital Supreme Court Reports (SCR).

He announced that in the upcoming weeks, digital SCR will be introduced alongside the existing eSCR.

The CJI acknowledged that the SCR was falling behind its time and informed how the new digital SCR will be comprehesive.

CJI also added how the initiative aims at benefiting law colleges that may not have the means to subscribe to similar services.

The CJI said that SCR had fallen way behind its time. Now it has neutral citations as well. Digital SCR will have volumes now and the footnotes are also updated till about last month or so.

The headnotes are also updated and our entire SCR editorial team has also been revamped. This is all free and benefits law colleges who cannot afford such paid subscriptions.

The project named electronic Supreme Court Reports (e-SCR) project was launched on the first working day of 2023 as a tribute to the nation.
