The NEET UG is applicable for admission to MBBS and BDS Courses in India in Medical or Dental colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India or Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India except for the institutions established through an Act of Parliament i.e. AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry.

The NEET medical and dental entrance exam will be held once a year and in pen-paper mode. The responsibility of the NTA will limited to the conduct of the entrance examination, declaration of result and providing All India Rank to the Directorate General Health Services, Government of India for the conduct of counselling for 15 per cent All India Quota Seats and for supplying the result to state/other Counselling Authorities.

NEET UG Eligibility​


Eligibility Criteria for NEET UG 2023, candidates who are in the age bracket 17 years to 25 years, can apply. Students must have completed a full-time course in physics, chemistry, and biology (or biotechnology) at the intermediate level. c. Knowledge of English Language is also a must.

NEET UG Application Fee Payable by Candidate for General Rs.1500/-, for General-EWS/ OBC-NCL Rs.1400/- and for SC/ST/PwD/Transgender Rs.800/-

NEET UG Registration Instructions​


Candidates can submit application forms for NEET UG 2023 online only. No offline application will be entertained. Information Bulletin can be obtained from the official website.

Candidates should retain the following documents with them as reference for future correspondence. Printouts of the confirmation page of online application. Proof of fee paid (i.e. Bank transaction details supported by confirmation page).

At least 4-6 copies of identical passport size and 4-6 postcard size photographs that were scanned and uploaded on the online application. Copy of the system generated self-declaration in respect of candidates from U.T of J&K who have opted for seats under 15% All India Quota.

Candidates must ensure that mobile numbers, e-mail ID filled in the online application form are their own or their parents only. The NTA will communicate by SMS and/or email on the given mobile number and email ID respectively.

The NTA will not be responsible for non-receipt of latest information due to incorrect mobile number, email ID and correspondence address filled in the online application form.

List of documents needed for NEET UG Registration​

  • Candidates will require upload scanned images of the candidate’s latest passport size photograph of size 10 kb to 200 kb.
  • Postcard size photograph (4”X6”) (Size: 50 kb – 300 kb)

  • Left-hand thumb impression (file size: 10 kb-50 kb) in JPG/JPEG format.

NEET UG Registration​


NEET Registration is an online process. Students who wish to appear for the examination are required to register online on the official website neet.nta.nic.in.

NEET Registration involves the following 2 broad steps. Step 1: Registering on the official website. For this, students would need to use a unique mobile number and email address.

This is the step of identification and the email id and mobile number used for registration would be used for all communication, starting from information regarding examination to the admission process.

Step 2: Filling the online application formThis is the second step wherein the candidates are required to share their personal and educational qualification details. This includes uploading of the photograph and signature as well as payment of fees. The application process would not be complete without the payment of fees.

NEET UG Online Apply 2023​


Candidates are reminded that only online application forms for NEET 2023 would be accepted. To apply, students are required to log in to the official website of NEET 2023 which is ntaneet.nic.in and click on Apply Online link, which is now active.

Follow the instructions and upload the image along with your signature to complete the form. All students are also reminded that the allocation of examination city would be strictly on first come first serve basis. Hence, it is always advisable to apply at the earliest.

Candidates can apply through ONLY ONLINE mode. Online submission of application may be made by accessing the Board’s website Instructions for submitting online application and payment of fee are available on website. Candidates may remit the fee in the following manner:

Steps to complete the NEET UG Registration 2023?​


The National Testing Agency has begun the registration process for NEET UG on its official website, neet.nta.ac.in. Candidates who are eligible can apply at the official website. To apply for the examination candidates can follow these simple steps given below.

  1. Visit the nta.ac.in Website
    Eligible candidates can visit the official NTA, National Testing Agency website on nta.ac.in in your device browser.

  2. Click on the NEET UG Link
    Once you reach the official website of NTA, you can click on the NEET GG link on the home page.

  3. Click on the New Registration Link
    After clicking on the NEET-UG link, a redirected page will open, candidates shall register themselves. Now, click on the registration link.

  4. Fill the Registration Form
    Fill in the registration form with required details for obtaining user id and password.

  5. Click on the Applicant Login
    Log in using your registration ID and password. NEET UG application form will be displayed on the screen.

  6. Fill the Application Form
    Once you reach the application form, fill in the asked required details.

  7. Upload the documents
    After filling the required information, candidates can upload the required scanned documents at the time of online application submission.

  8. Pay the Examination Fee
    Choose your test city and complete the examination fee payment process and click on submit. Your application has been submitted.

  9. Download Application Form
    After completion of payment process, click to submit and Download the confirmation page for further requirements.

  10. Print the Application Form
    Take a print out of the filled application form for future references.

NEET UG for MBBS, BDS Courses​


NEET UG or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test UG is the mandatory national level examination students have to clear for admission to MBBS, BDS courses in India.

The examination is conducted by NTA and counseling is done by Medical Counseling Committee. NEET score is used for admission to all medical and dental colleges in the country – government, private as well as deemed universities.

NEET UG is also mandatory for students who wish to go abroad to study MBBS or BDS. Students who wish to study medicine from abroad need to quality NEET – that is, get a minimum of 50 percentile in the NEET examination conducted by NTA. NEET is usually conducted in the month of June. The examination is conducted in pen and paper mode.

NEET UG 2023 Exam pattern​

  • NEET is a three-hour long exam which includes three sections – physics, chemistry and biology
  • Of the total 180 questions, 90 would be from biology and 45 each from physics and chemistry
  • Preparation syllabus includes the whole of Class 11 and 12 standard NCERT textbooks in the respective subjects
  • Every correct answer would fetch you plus four marks and every incorrect answer results in a negative mark
  • Questions that are not attempted do not have any penalty marks.

Aadhaar not needed for NEET: The Supreme Court on September 26 declared the Centre’s flagship Aadhaar scheme as constitutionally valid but said Aadhaar need not be made compulsory for school admissions, CBSE, NEET and UGC exams.

Qualifications and Qualifying Examination Codes​

CODE: 01A candidate who is appearing in the qualifying examination, i.e., 12 Standard in 2022, whose result is awaited, may apply and appear in the test but he/she shall not be eligible for admission to the Undergraduate Medical Courses if he/she does not pass the qualifying examination with the required pass percentage at the time of first round of Counselling.

Candidates who have appeared or are appearing at the qualifying Examination with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as the main subject and expect to pass the Examination with the required percentage of marks are also eligible to apply and appear in the Competitive Entrance Examination. However, their candidature will be considered only if they provide documentary evidence of having passed the qualifying Examination with the required subjects and percentage of marks.
CODE: 02The Higher/Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher/Senior Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) and Mathematics or any other elective subject with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training after the introduction of the 10+2+3 educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education.

Candidates who have passed 10+2 from Open School or as private candidates shall not be eligible to appear for the ‘National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test’. Furthermore, a study of Biology/Biotechnology as an Additional Subject at 10+2 level also shall not be permissible.

The candidates who have passed 10+2 level with Biology as an additional subject will also be eligible for MBBS Entrance Examination (as per Hon’ble High Court Order No. 2341/-W/DHC/WRIT/D-1/2019 dated 24/09/2019 in the Writ Petition (C) No. 6773/2019. If the institute has to consider an examination of an Indian University or of a foreign/university to be equivalent to the 12 Class under 10+2 scheme/intermediate science examination, the candidates shall have to produce a certificate from the concerned Indian University/Association of Indian Universities to the effect that the examination passed by him/her is considered to be equivalent to the 12 class under 10+2 scheme/intermediate science examination.
CODE: 03The Intermediate/Pre-degree Examination in Science of an Indian University/Board or other recognised examining body with Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Biotechnology (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) and also English as a compulsory subject.
CODE: 04The Pre-professional/Pre-medical Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English after passing either the Higher Secondary Examination or the Pre-University or an equivalent examination. The Preprofessional/Pre-medical examination shall include practical tests in these subjects and also English as a compulsory subject.
CODE: 05The first year of the three years’ degree course of a recognised University with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology including practical tests in these subjects provided the examination is a University Examination and candidate has passed the earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Biotechnology with English at a level not less than a core course.
CODE: 06B.Sc. Examination of an Indian University provided that he/she has passed the B.Sc. Examination with not less than two of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology)/Biotechnology and further that he/ she has passed the earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
CODE: 07Any other examination which in scope and standard (Last 02 years of 10+2 Study comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology; which shall include practical test in these subjects) is found to be equivalent to the Intermediate Science Examination of an Indian University/Board, taking Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology including practical tests in each of these subjects and English.
Qualifications and Qualifying Examination Codes for NEET UG

Every year, over 15 to 18 lakh candidates appear for the medical entrance exam. Through NEET UG 2023 admission will be granted to 91,827 MBBS, 27,698 BDS, 52,720 AYUSH, 487 BSc nursing, and 603 BVSc seats, including 1899 AIIMS MBBS and 249 JIPMER MBBS seats.
