NEET UG Exam Schedule 2025 or NEET UG Exam Date 2025 would be released for conduct National Eligibility cum Entrance Test by the National Testing Agency, NTA on its website .

The national level competitive examination, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET will be conducted in May 2025.

NEET UG: Every year, over 11 lakh medical aspirants appear for the MBBS entrance exams. While NEET has been made mandatory for admission in medical colleges since 2016. NEET will be conducted by the National Testing Agency.

Here is the list of these exams and their tentative schedule. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) will be conducted once in a year.

The entrance examination, which is the gateway for admissions to medical institutions across the country.

NEET will be conducted in May 2025 and the admit card will be available to download from one week before conduct of examination.

The online registration process will be commenced as per the schedule, and the result of the NEET examination is scheduled to be released in July last week.

NEET UG Exam pattern and syllabus​


The NEET is a three-hour long exam which includes three sections – physics, chemistry and biology.

Of the total 180 questions, 90 would be from biology and 45 each from physics and chemistry. Preparation syllabus includes the whole of Class 11 and 12 standard NCERT textbooks in the respective subjects.

Every correct answer would fetch you plus four marks and every incorrect answer results in a negative mark. Questions that are not attempted do not have any penalty marks. So, choose your battles wisely, if you do not know a question for sure, do not mark it.

Exam Pattern of NEET UG: As per the official notification released by NTA, NEET UG will be conducted in thirteen languages in pen and paper mode.

The NEET exam duration will be for three hours and 20 minutes. There will be 200 questions in total, out of which candidates have to answer 180 questions.

Each question will carry four marks in the NEET, so that the score will be out of 720. There will be no negative marking for an unattempted question, but for incorrect answers, students will lose 1 mark.

National Testing Agency, NTA would be conducting the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET only once a year next year. The Human Resources Development Ministry has decided against its previous decision to conduct NEET twice a year in the online mode under NTA.

The decision came in after Health Ministry requested MHRD to reconsider the proposal. The examination would now be conducted in the same pattern as this year, in pen and paper mode on the above said date by NTA.

MHRD has now released a new schedule and the examination for NEET would now be conducted in May (May be). As for the paper pattern, the reports confirm that the offline pen and paper mode would be available to students.

As to the possibility of conducting NEET in online mode as well, there is no further reports. However, it is confirmed that NEET would be conducted once next year and would also be available in pen and paper mode.

NEET is a national level medical entrance examination and its scores have been used for admission in medical and allied courses across the country. Students can appear for NEET once a year and the best score will be considered for admission.

The National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET), for admission into medical and dental courses, will be held in May. At present, both these tests are held only once a year.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test NEET UG Exam, which was taken in offline mode, will go pen and paper mode, under NTA.

The results will be able to be processed faster and more efficiently. Major examination reform, NTA, is now operational. It will be conducting the NEET, JEE mains, NET, CMAT and GMAT examinations effective this year.

Announcing the schedule of National Testing Agency, Javadekar stated that the new arrangement made by the MHRD will garner a lot of benefit to the students of the country.

The candidates who would appear for these tests will be able to use the best score from the multiple attempts during the counselling process.

It will also curb paper leaks and it will all be computerised. Javadekar also informed that neither the syllabus nor format of these examinations will be changed, not even the nature and the kind of questions. Only the method of taking the examination will change. It will all computer-based and conducted in online mode.

NTA NEET UG: A month after it announced that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) will be conducted online and twice a year from, the government on Tuesday rolled back the decision. The exam will now be held in the pen-and-paper mode and not online.

Earlier, the Indian Express had reported that the HRD Ministry’s keenness to put off any changes in the NEET’s conduct is influenced by the Health Ministry, which fears an online (read computer-based) test would put students from rural and economically poor families at a disadvantage.

The registration process for NEET will begin from as per the schedule and the exam will be held in May. However, the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) will be held twice a year.

Standard of the exams:​


Under NTA, these exams will be more secure and at par with international norms, claimed the minister. There will be no issues of leakage and it would be more student-friendly, open, scientific and a leak-proof system.

NTA is expected to bring in a qualitative difference in the examination process by its focus on research and scientific test design using services of Experts, Researchers, Statisticians, Psychometricians, Test Item Writers and Education Specialists.

The item writers would be trained to ensure that the quality of questions is as per the test design. The experts, statisticians and item writers/ subject matter experts are already identified for being inducted into NTA. The new system will be student-friendly, fair, transparent and flexible.

Preparation: The NTA would benefit the students and they would have the option of going to computer centres from August-end to practise for the exams.

The tests would be computer-based. The exams would be held over a span of four-five days and students would have the option of choosing the dates, the minister said.

Syllabus: The syllabus, question formats, language and fees for the NEET, JEE Main and NET exams would not be changed. The time table of the exams to be conducted by NTA would be uploaded on the ministry’s website.

NEET UG Important instructions​

  • May 7 is the exam date for NEET UG.
  • Exam would be conducted from 2:00 pm to 5:20 pm across the 3500+ examination centres in the country and aboard.
  • NEET UG is a pen and paper test, candidates are required to carry the pen to mark the OMR sheet.
  • Reporting time is printed on the NEET admit cards – all students are advised to report an hour before the exam begins.

The candidates wearing articles or objects of faith (customary/ cultural/ religious ) are advised to report at the examination centre at least two hours before the last reporting time mentioned in the admit card and latest by 12:30 pm on the day of the exam.

All students must carry

  • NEET Admit Card with a passport size photograph pasted on it
  • One passport-size photograph which would be pasted on the Attendance Sheet at the exam centre – students are advised to carry two if they have
  • Valid Original Identity proof and PwBD certificate, if applicable along with photo copies
  • Duly filled proforma which is downloaded with the NEET admit card, and One Post Card Size (4”X6”) colour photograph with white background pasted on the Proforma – this has to be handed over to the invigilator at the exam centre

Remember, entry to the examination centre would be closed at 1:30 and no student under any circumstances would be allowed to enter the exam hall after that. Also, the things listed above are mandatory and students not carrying the same would not be allowed to sit in the examination.

What are the NEET UG Exam details?​


NEET UG will consist of 200 multiple choice questions; each having four options with a single correct answer. The exam will be divided into three sections – Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology).

Each subject will have 50 questions which will be divided into two sections (A and B). The duration of the exam will be 200 minutes (3 hours 20 minutes).

The exam will be held from 2 PM to 05 PM. For a wrong answer, one mark will be deducted in both sessions, as per the revised marking scheme. To clear NEE T, students need to score at least 50 percentile marks.
