The countdown to NEET PG 2024 has begun with the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) set to release the admit cards on August 8. However, the much-anticipated exam on August 11 is shrouded in controversy, with candidates and medical associations raising serious concerns.

A primary issue is the allocation of exam centres. Despite two rounds of revisions, many aspirants are grappling with inconveniently located test centres, necessitating long travel times. Demands for further revisions are gaining momentum, especially on social media platforms.

The decision to conduct the exam in two shifts has also sparked debate. Medical bodies like Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) and concerned MPs have urged the government to reconsider this, advocating for a single shift to reduce stress on candidates.

Adding to the turmoil, a confidential NBEMS letter seeking support from district administrations for the exam’s smooth conduct has leaked online, raising questions about the security of sensitive information.

The All FMGs Association (AFA) has expressed deep concerns over a potential paper leak, citing the leaked notice as evidence of a compromised security system. This development has heightened anxiety among candidates, especially considering the exam’s previous postponement due to similar issues.

The NBEMS has yet to address the authenticity of the leaked document.

Meanwhile, the board is preparing for potential challenges in flood-affected areas like Assam, assuring candidates of a mitigation plan.
