Vadodara: Navrachana University, Vadodara, celebrated its 12th annual convocation on Saturday, conferring degrees on 707 students from various disciplines across undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes.
Of the 707 graduating students, 379 were girls and 328 were boys. Eleven of the 17 gold medalists were also girls. Moreover, six students, including three girls, were awarded PhD degrees. A total of 516 students received bachelor’s degrees, 166 students received master’s degrees, and 24 students received degrees upon completion of 5-year integrated programmes.
Delivering the convocation address, Krish Ashok, Head of Advisory and Consulting Function at the Al.Cloud unit at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and the Chief Guest for the event emphasized the importance of continuous learning in an ever-evolving world.
“… we’re about to enter what I call the era of the human API,” he said. “For those of you who aren’t into computer science – and this is exactly the kind of cross-disciplinary translation we need to get good at – an API (application programming interface) is how different software systems talk to each other. In the future, the most valuable skill won’t be writing code or analyzing data or creating content. AI will do most of that. The most valuable skill will be knowing how to talk to both AI and humans, understanding the strengths and limitations of each, and creating something meaningful from that intersection. Any job you do – you will need to interface with AI, and the better you do it, the better your chances of success. Sure, AI will take your job if your job is to write simple software code or test applications, or work in a call center, or be an intern in a law firm … AI will not take the job of someone that knows how to use AI to be more creative, quicker and, better … A Human using AI effectively will take your job”.
In her address, Smt. Tejal Amin, Chairperson of Navrachana Education Society, said, “It is a proud moment for all of us to be a part of the 12th annual convocation. As always, our graduates will continue to make us hold our heads high with their academic achievements and contribution to society.”
